- Initiates repair services and repairs by ascertaining equipment problems and services requested.
- Verifies warranty and service contract coverage provides estimates writing repair orders and maintaining customer rapport and records.
- Ascertains problems and services needed by listening to customers description of symptoms clarifying description of problems checking equipment maintenance records and examining service schedules.
- Calculates customers payment including deductibles.
- Prepares repair orders by describing symptoms problems and causes discovered as well as repairs and services required.
- Obtains approval signatures and enters repair orders into service database system.
- Maintains customer rapport by explaining estimates and obtaining customers approval of estimates providing/updating contact telephone numbers answering questions and concerns.
- Maintains service records by recording problems and corrective actions planned in our operating system.
As an appliance repair technician youll work with anything from dishwashers to microwaves to dryers. In other words youll need to be fairly knowledgeable about large appliances portable appliances mechanical work as well as electrical work.
Youll deal with more than just appliances though as a repair technician youll have to deal with people too.
Appliance repair technicians must also have skills in high mechanical aptitude have impeccable written and verbal communication skills work adeptly with repair tools be okay with lifting heavy machinery and of course be incredibly skilled in troubleshooting problems.
