Patty Baker Humane Society Naples invites you to apply for a new position within our organization Community Services Coordinator. PBHSN is proud to provide services to include the provision of low cost veterinary services to underresourced communities free crisis boarding to individuals who need temporary housing for their pets (e.g. due to domestic violence homelessness or hospitalization) and free pet food for those in need. The Community Services Coordinator will administer and implement these programs with the goal of keeping pets and people together.
Schedule
This is a full time job 5 days/40 hours per week usually 8 am 5 pm with an hour for lunch; MVC days may be 7 am 6 pm. Youll get two days off per week but you may have to work some weekend days or holidays.
Responsibilities
Coordinates and participates in Mobile Veterinary Clinic (MVC) events including
Promoting MVC services within the community to reach underserved populations
Identifying service locations
Scheduling mobile clinic events
Serve as receptionist for MVC clients
Drive mobile clinic (large RVlike vehicle)
Administers Operation Rescue a temporary crisis boarding program
Respond to and assess requests for assistance
Coordinate transfer of animals into and out of boarding locations
Arrange for veterinary care with HSNs veterinary team as needed
Oversees the Denny Plesea Pet Food Bank
Coordinate staffing during Pet Food Pantry operating hours primarily utilizing volunteers
Train Pet Food Pantry personnel on distribution processes customer service and overcoming language barriers
Collect and enter food distribution data in ShelterLuv
Maintain inventory and source pet food donations through corporations animal welfare organizations social media appeals or other suitable sources
Ensure the cleanliness and organization of pet food pantry storage areas
Report usage statistics to Development or other departments as needed
Respond to and assess requests for food assistance
Develops and nurtures working relationships with key community partners likes homeless assistance groups domestic violence centers and other nonprofit organizations
Develops and maintains positive collaborative relationships with boarding kennels
Follows up with pet owners who access our programs to monitor outcomes and learn what other forms of support or assistance are needed
Requirements
Minimum of an Bachelors Degree preferred; nonprofit administration social services veterinary social work or other community or veterinarycentered field preferred
At least 3 years of related professional experience in animal sheltering social services veterinary social work or provision of other community services strongly preferred. Significant experience of this nature may be substituted for a college degree
Fluency in English required; additional conversational skills in Spanish and/or Haitian Creole strongly preferred
Excellent community engagement networking and customer service skills
Highly organized and able to manage multiple projects and priorities
Compassionate nonjudgmental approach to others in need
Computer proficient and able to quickly learn new software
Willingness to handle dogs cats and other small mammals of various sizes and temperaments
Valid drivers license and clean driving record
Physical Requirements
The ability to see at approximately 20/20 vision with or without assistive devices
The ability to hear or read lips with or without assistive devices
The ability to use arms hands and fingers including fine motor movements
The ability to independently lift up to 40 lbs
Personnel in this position can expect to engage in moderate physical labor including but not limited to bending stooping crouching pushing pulling and lifting as well as sitting or standing for long periods of time.
