Housing Modernisation and Strategy Manager

Secondment For 6 months will possible extension to 12 months

Grade

Consultation grade subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review

Working 36.5 hours per week

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role within the Councils Strategic Enabling Service.

Were seeking strategic thinkers who have a clear understanding of both national and local housing issues and can bring creativity and innovation to finding solutions. Were especially interested in applicants with experience in strategy development and partnership building whether at a local regional or national level.

This particular role is funded by the Ministry of Housing Communities and Local Government through the Supported Housing Improvement Programme. The position offers the chance to join an established multidisciplinary team dedicated to improving supported housing provision within the city.

The main aim of the project is to enhance both the quality and costeffectiveness of housing within the sector. This will involve working with the private sector to raise standards and address instances of poor practice.

A key part of the Councils approach is the Quality Standard Accreditation Scheme which plays a central role in the commitment to raising standards across the city.

Accommodation within the sector primarily focuses on providing tailored transitional support for vulnerable adults with much of this accommodation falling outside of HMO licensing and planning regulations.

The multidisciplinary team includes specialist officers in City Housing property standards Adult Social Care Community Safety Planning and Revenue and Benefits. In this role you will lead the property standards team. Your responsibilities will include managing officers who conduct property inspections in line with the Housing Health & Safety Rating System and the Housing Act of 2004. The team will also respond to inquiries from citizens and elected members while collaborating closely with other partners to improve service provision.

We are looking for someone who is confident in analysing data from a range of sources and preparing clear detailed reports. A solid understanding of property standards is highly beneficial as is a proven track record of managing teams and projects successfully. The ideal candidate will also be experienced in working under pressure meeting tight deadlines and taking initiative to get things done.
