Youth Climbing Team Coach
The Bouldering Project Youth Climbing Head Coach will be responsible for the collaborative implementation of curriculum for the competitive Bouldering Project Youth Climbing Team. This role involves facilitating practices designed to support youth climbers in their development as athletes. The Youth Competitive Climbing Head Coach will contribute to forwarding the goals and mission of Bouldering Project Youth Programs as an integral part of the Bouldering Project as well as extend the facilitys reach into elite level performance climbing.
General Responsibilities
Work collaboratively with coaches Youth Programs Manager and Head Setters to implement climbing and training curriculum for the Spring noncompetitive season leading into the Fall competition season. This will include weekly coaching sessions and eventually travel and coaching at competitions.
Implement individual coaching strategies for each youth on the competitive climbing team.
Communicate regularly and proactively with the Youth Programs Manager when applicable regarding each climbers development as well as any safety or health concerns.
Participate as appropriate in travel and regional/regional/national/world competitions.
Communicate with athletes parents.
Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervise youth climbers during practices and competitions while modeling BP values and appropriate adult support and motivation.
Serve as peer support and collaborator with cocoaches at practices and events.
Manage coaching staff and schedules.
Develop coaching staff skills set and support their growth.
Working Conditions
Able to be flexible in working hours: weekday weekends and evenings required. The schedule variesthroughout the entire year with some months of minimal work and others including coaching travel and competitions.
Facility Safety and Incident Response
Responds proactively to injuries accidents or incidents following the Safety Manual and Protocol ensuring proper documentation of incidents via the incident report log.
Ensures that all customers using the facility have a waiver on file and are aware of the rules andregulations of the facility.
Provides safety to customers through instruction and orientation.
Administers first aid in accordance with Safety Manual and BP Protocol.
Promptly communicates incidents to the Youth Programs Manager.
Interpersonal Contacts
Works in proximity with all staff and managers.
Works closely with and reports directly to the General Manager.
Constant interactions with youth parents and other gym visitors.
Must appropriately represent the Bouldering Project in all of these capacities.
Be appropriately available to talk with families about questions concerns and feedback; and to pass along any higherlevel conversations to the Youth Programs Manager.
This is a vital part of the position with a heavy percentage of time being devoted to youth parents and innumerable community members.

Working Conditions
