JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
The Okafor lab in the department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Pennsylvania State University seeks to hire a motivated undergraduate researcher to join our team this summer (parttime) to help develop a coursebased undergraduate research experience (CURE)focused on computational biophysics. The candidate will be part of a project that helps shape how research is taught to undergraduates while deepening your own understanding of computational biology and gaining experience in curriculum development.
Job Duties
- Test and refine handson exercises related to protein modeling and molecular dynamics (MD) simulations
- Help prepare materials and resources that will be used by future students in the course
- Provide feedback and contribute ideas to improve the researchbased curriculum
Desired qualities in ideal candidate
- An undergraduate with at least one year of research experiencein computational biophysics
- Practical experience with protein structure modeling and MD simulations is required
- Reliable detailoriented and excited about making science more accessible to other students
