Job Description

ROLE SUMMARY

Since Payer Account Medical Leads provide support across all categories the Sr. Director US Field Payer Account Medical Lead role has been established to consolidate resources under the US Field Medical Lead thereby streamlining the support model.

The Sr. Director US Field Payer Account Medical Lead will serve as both a player and coach responsible for performing PAML role tasks and managing a team of be responsible for leading and overseeing all Payer Account Medical Lead (PAML) resources in support of IM SC and Vaccines. This role will have oversight responsibility for the development and implementation of strategically aligned payer centric goals drive strategic alignment of medical and payer account priorities across the team ensure effective execution of medical payer engagement strategies and foster collaboration across crossfunctional teams to optimize patient access.

Payer Account Medical Leads (PAML) serve as Pfizers primary medical point of contact with the top priority US Payer organizations spanning multiple states or nationally. They lead develop evolve and maintain longterm medical working relationships with national healthcare thought leaders and key customers to include Payer and other Managed Care customers to improve quality of care and to ensure customers are educated on the clinical and economic value of Pfizer medicines.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and provide oversight for development and execution of payer account medical plans to lead manage develop and coach a team of Field Medical Payer Account Medical Lead colleagues.
  • Guide work prioritization and resource allocation across the team.
  • Ensure appropriate Payer colleague deployment and account prioritization based on aligned BU and business priorities.
  • Ensure team activities are conducted in compliance with all policies guidelines and regulations and that team members complete all assigned training within the specified timeframe.
  • Proactively and compliantly collaborate with HQ Medical Affairs and commercial colleagues as appropriate to shape and implement Payer customercentric medical strategy that supports regional and national brand operating plans and goals.
  • Coordinate with Payer Customer Account (PCA) to ensure effective development and execution of medical strategy that aligns and supports the broader enterprise payer account operating plan for target customer mix.
  • Assist US Medical Affairs and aligned BU teams with the strategic planning development inclusion of Field Medical insights and execution of strategic medical plans that incorporate development and execution of appropriately aligned Payer Medical engagement strategy.
  • Ensure that communication and collaboration between HQ Medical Affairs the Payer Medical Team and commercial functions are effective appropriate and compliant.
  • Ensure PAML colleagues compliantly provide objective and scientifically sound medical information regarding Pfizers portfolio and disease states through use of pharmacoeconomicmodels outcomes tools and data analytics
  • Support US Medical Affairs teams in the assessment and rollout of major above brand strategic initiatives that impact the broader Payer market segment.
  • Maintain exceptional market and Payer customer knowledge in an increasingly complex and dynamic marketplace.
  • Serve on US Field Medical Leadership Team and/or crossfunctional committees and teams as requested by Medical Affairs leadership
  • Interface with executive medical decisionmakers at MCOs PBMs Academic Institutions key opinion leaders and/or other thought leaders that impact and influence the broader US Healthcare and Payer customer market.
  • Understand communicate and adhere to current FDA and other US regulations and guidance that impact interactions with and delivery of medical information to Payer customer organizations and decision makers.
  • Remain up to date on US Healthcare market and Payer centric trends including developments in scientific and medical literature that may influence and guide Payer customer decision making

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers develop and coach others oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.

  • Terminal Doctorate degree required (PharmD PhD)
  • 7 or more years of relevant experience including significant experience in interacting with payers and other organized customers
  • Demonstrated understanding and/or experience in managing or actively working in the US Payer Market
  • Demonstrate a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including:
    • the ability to influence and collaborate with peers.
    • the ability to inspire motivate develop lead a team in a complex changing environment that is focused on generating a positive medical customer

  • Work within a matrixed multidisciplinary team to foster strong Pfizer/customer professional relationships which are aligned with Pfizer Medical objectives
  • Demonstrate change agility; be flexible to new opportunities (e.g. new therapeutic areas) and adaptable to organizational change

  • Collaborate effectively and demonstrate leadership and teamwork with peers internal stakeholders and external customers that inspires alignment and partnership on a shared vision or strategy

  • Rapidly adopt and utilize new digital technology and other resources with medical customers and record medical interactions

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with Formulary Management Managed Care Quality Improvement Pharmacoeconomic and/or Outcomes Research is desired
  • Familiarity with internal/external SOPs/Rules/Regulations regarding Pfizer/customer
  • Previous Field Medical experience
  • Graduation from a US accredited Healthcare program
  • Residency or fellowship

NONSTANDARD WORK SCHEDULE TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

Operate a Pfizer company car and regularly fly on airplanes (i.e. attend HCP/customer meetings; attend NYHQ meetings etc. required; proximity to airline hub city); maintain flexibility to travel approximately 50% of time.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $242000.00 to $403400.00. In addition this position is eligible for participation in Pfizers Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 25.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
