POSITION SPECIFICS
Dr. Amy Moore in the Department of Nutritional Sciences at Penn State is hiring a fulltime Human Research Technologist to assist in research projects related to nutrition health and wellbeing in communitybased settings especially among families living in rural communities.
The Human Research Technologist will have the opportunity to work as part of a growing multidisciplinary team and will have the opportunity to work across a variety of projects related to improving nutrition and nutritionrelated health outcomes among underserved families. Current and future projects include communitybased interventions to improve dietary behaviors among parents and their children.
This position will be responsible for the daytoday management of research and lab activities including developing and implementing research protocols participant recruitment data collection data management and analyses and developing reports and presentations related to research and lab activities. Opportunities for authorship on research projects will be available.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop and review research protocols including the design of recruitment materials and data collection instruments.
- Develop review and submit Institutions Review Board (IRB) documents and modifications; ensure implemented procedures adhere to IRBapproved protocols.
- Recruit potential participants for research studies; communicate with participants and coordinate their participation across the lifecycle of studies; maintain study databases.
- Participate in communityengaged activities with the research team.
- Collect enter/manage code and analyze data; contribute to the design of data plans; present updates to the research team.
- Develop lab functioning protocols; train research team in research procedures and lab functions; coordinate with team schedules; may supervise research team to build team capacity.
- Monitor and manage project logistics including inventory ordering and equipment.
- Serve as liaison with Principal Investigator (PI) research collaborators and community partners.
- Prepare reports and presentations for a wide range of audiences; opportunities for authorship on research projects will be available in the form of abstracts manuscripts and conference presentations.
- May supervise staff members including scheduling and performance management and assist with hiring and onboarding new staff members.
This position will be filled as a Human Research Technologist Health and Medicine Intermediate Professional which requires a minimum of an Associates degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Bachelors degree in nutrition public health sociology psychology or related fields as well as excellent interpersonal and organizational skills are preferred. Experience with programming languages (e.g. SAS or R) and qualitative analysis software (e.g. NVivo or Dedoose) is desirable.
MINIMUM EDUCATION WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS
