DescriptionHennepin County District Court Criminal Traffic Division is seeking a customer service focused teamoriented Court Operations Associate to contribute to our mission of providing justice to the public. This is a diverse inclusive dynamic professional work environment that promotes equity for all court staff and court users.
This position assists the general public representatives from other agencies the hearing office attorneys judges law enforcement and other staff by providing and explaining court rules and procedures. Duties include all aspects of citation processing payments and limited criminal case processing. Work includes performing general clerical and a variety of court clerical tasks which follow well established and standardized data entry methods and procedures.
Example of Duties
- Initiate and image new case filings in Traffic/Criminal matters
- Receipt and process a large number of payments maintaining daily financial drawers while upholding high professional working standards and working with the public
- Work with a highvolume of court users on a daily basis; assist customers at the counter by phone and through electronic means; communicating in a courteous professional manner
- Coordinate communicate and collaborate with team members to ensure daily work assignments and case processing are completed efficiently and accurately
- Schedule calendar hearings continuances and other matters; prepare and send out notices orders motions and other documents requiring a detailed knowledge of applicable terminology rules and procedures
- Receive enter and process court papers documents and traffic citations into Minnesota Court Information System (MNCIS)
- Review and access cases from the Violations Bureau Electronic System (ViBES) MNCIS and Application Xtender; obtain driving and vehicle records from the Department of Vehicle Services
- Answer general questions and assist court users and partners as they navigate through the criminal court process
Typical Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
- High school diploma and one (1) year of relevant job experience OR equivalent amount of posthigh school education and experience totaling one year.
- Examples of relevant job experience: customer service administrative work office and clerical work.
- As these positions may work partially remotely access to reliable internet connection is required during this time.
Minimum Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with internal and external customers
- Ability to deescalate difficult customer interactions and work respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds both as customers and coworkers
- Team oriented with a positive attitude and the ability to establish and maintain respectful effective relationships
- Reliable with the ability to meet commitments and keep work projects on task with minimal supervision
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to learn and retain new material and concepts; make independent judgments based on training resources and experience
- Demonstrates initiative and selfdirected completion of work upon knowledge of expectations and goals
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to multitask work well under pressure and work in a high volume fastpaced work environment
- Ability to learn Microsoft Office Suite Adobe Acrobat and other jobrelated software
Preferred Qualifications

- Ability to handle financial transactions at the public counter with customers
- Ability to hold a simple conversation in Spanish and/or Somali is a plus (e.g. asking for name date of birth address etc.)

Logistics
The Violations Bureau is located on the Public Service Level of the Hennepin County Government Center in downtown Minneapolis at 300 South 6th Street Court Towers SK0871. The hours for this position will be between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. MondayFriday; hours may vary depending on division position is currently working primarily onsite with potential for occasional remote work depending on business needs.
Salary Range
The expected starting salary for external candidates is at least $22.00 per hour and may be higher depending on qualifications. This position is nonexempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is eligible forState of Minnesota employee benefits.
