Job Description

Experienced Seeker Radar Engineer

The Boeing Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) program area is working on several new development efforts for the Patriot Advanced Capability (PAC3) RF seeker and is looking for an experienced Seeker Radar Engineer to support these efforts! This position is located at the Boeing Jetplex facility in Huntsville AL.

Boeing Defense Space & Security (BDS) PAC3 program is an airdefense missile system designed to intercept tactical ballistic missiles cruise missiles and advanced aircraft where Boeing is the original engineering manufacturer of the seeker. Boeings RADAR seekers provide target data to the PAC3 missile which enables it to acquire intercept and destroy threats using hittokill technology. The PAC3 Seeker team is a cross functional highly skilled motivated group embracing the beliefs that focused safety execution LEAN manufacturing and business practices will secure our future all while driving our product to be the seeker of choice for the PAC3 program and future generations of weapon systems.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Development of algorithms for radar signal processing techniques such as Kalman filtering probabilistic and statistical modeling and measurement processing from pulsedDoppler waveforms

  • Design of algorithms that process signal returns into discriminated targets and track targets through mission timeline

  • Define system performance requirements and ensure interface definition supports various functional components of the seekers and missiles architecture

  • Conduct analysis to optimize total systemofsystems performance and/or system architecture as applied to algorithmic functionality pertaining to the acquisition and tracking of targets

  • Conduct analysis on seeker simulation data to identify areas of improvement and guide recommendations for system robustness in the presence of challenging operational environments

  • Review and modify the application of general digital signal processing techniques to the processing of reradiated signal content to ensure accurate signal characteristic identification

  • Support the tactical implementation of algorithm designs into Ada or C software

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)

BasicQualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology) chemistry physics mathematics data science or computer science

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5 years of experience in Digital Signal Processing/Radar/Digital Communications algorithms and techniques (equalization waveform processing detection/acquisition/discrimination channel estimation filter design resampling theory etc.)

  • Experience with MATLAB for data analysis prototyping and/or modeling and simulation

  • Experience in digital signal processing theory including the application of fundamental digital signal processing techniques.

  • Knowledge of linear signal theory Fourier transforms and communication theory

  • RF electrical transmission signal processing and modeling in MATLAB

  • System test experience including test design implementation and execution for breadboard and brassboard hardware

  • Experience working in a fastpaced independent research and development (IRAD) environment

  • Familiarity with multiple programming languages and development environments (C Ada Python etc.) in an Agile environment

  • Experience in formal technical writing (i.e. Whitepapers TechNotes Technical Journals and Research Reports)

  • Experience in technology readiness level (TRL) maturation of novel technologies and concepts
