About the Role
You will be an important member of our clinical team by ensuring the delivery of highquality personcentered care to all patients. You will work within multidisciplinary teams to provide effective and efficient evidencebased care whilst also demonstrating commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.
These positions are aimed at HMOs who are considering Intensive Care (ICU) as a career.
The positions involve 6 months ICU and 6 months in other critical care rotations in Emergency medicine and/or Anaesthesia. Rotation through the ICU will be in either term 1 or term 2 to enable you to gain experience and suitable referees should you plan on applying for the training program. Residents provide patient care under supervision and work a shift roster including rotation to St Vincents Private Hospital ICU.
Classifications for this position will range from HM13 ($98224.88 pro rata per annum) salary sacrifice and excluding super.

Ability to manage time effectively organising daily workload through prioritisation and demonstrate punctuality
Use the principles of evidencebased practice and access relevant current literature in making assessments and formulating management decisions
Recognise the ethical complexity of medical practice and follow professional and ethical codes
Provide clear and comprehensive handover information to senior clinicians colleagues nurses and allied health professionals
Respect the leadership role and the varied other roles and responsibilities within a team
About Department of Intensive Care
St Vincents Melbourne ICU is a major tertiary referral centre with the capacity to provide care to critically ill patients in our 19bed unit.
We provide care for patients with diverse health needs including sepsis respiratory and cardiovascular compromise renal neuromuscular endocrine and haematological disorders.
We provide perioperative support for patients undergoing cardiothoracic surgery and neurosurgical procedures in addition to other major surgeries.
Medical supports offered by ICU include:
Mechanical and Noninvasive Ventilation
Advanced Haemodynamic monitoring and support
Renal Replacement Therapy
ECMO
ICU responds to MET (Medical Emergency Team) calls on the ward as well as Code Blue. Our skilled ICU Liaison Nurses provide support to patients at risk of becoming critically ill on the wards. We also provide a Tracheostomy service.
