Study of the didactics of reading writing and oral communication in grades 1 through 3. Introduction to the concept of literacy. Examination of teaching strategies that promote French language learning while supporting students and valuing their linguistic and cultural diversity. Critical analysis of the French curriculum framework. Experimentation with various teaching methods including the use of childrens literature and technology. Integration of Indigenous literacy. A Masters degree in Education is required; preference will be given to candidates with a Doctorate in Education;
At least one of the following: Recent fulltime teaching experience in a school or administrative experience within a school board including two years of implementing the Ontario Curriculum with a French specialist qualification OR a current peerreviewed research record in French OR a recent synthesis examination (Ph.D.) in French;
Demonstrated knowledge of the Ontario context regarding French language education;
Proven ability to apply the Professional Standards and the Code of Ethics of the Ontario College of Teachers;
The University may consider experience or qualifications equivalent to those listed above.
The course will be delivered in a hybrid distancelearning format alternating between synchronous and asynchronous sessions.
