Job Description

Job Description Summary
The Department of English Creative Writing and Film at Oakland University invites applications for the tenure track position of Assistant Professor of Filmmaking with appointment beginning August 15 2025. Specialization for this position is open and may include expertise in any area(s) of film and media production postproduction and/or digital animation. Successful candidates will possess the potential to teach courses within the core curriculum of the Oakland University Film Studies and Production program while developing offerings in their area(s) of expertise. Teaching responsibilities include a range of introductory intermediate and advanced filmmaking courses along with FLM 4999 Filmmaking Thesis. The annual teaching load is 3/2.

Minimum Qualifications
Candidates for this position should hold an MFA in film and video animation and visual effects or a related discipline (PhD in Film or related field with significant professional production experience will also be considered); possess a record of or potential for excellent teaching at the undergraduate level; have a record of creative activity in film or related media; and demonstrate a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
