Job Title: Childcare Program Director

Function:
OVERVIEW: The Childcare Program Director manages and operates the statelicensed childcare program for the Broomfield Corps. This director oversees and cares for approximately 30 children in a childcare environment. Child safety and personal participation are essential duties of this position. The director must also maintain the divisional standards of supervision for the staff and manage the logistics of the programs daily operations. The childcare program director oversees afterschool and summer day camp programming for schoolaged children supporting daily operations. This includes setting up and breaking down daily activities facilitating games and activities enforcing rules maintaining state licensing standards communicating with parents in person by phone and via email and outlining daily responsibilities as needed based on the programs requirements and the strength of the Program Leader. The childcare director sets logistics for transportation when necessary during the program. In this position the childcare director will maintain licensing and Colorado Department of Public Health regulations plan and implement with childcare staff and track supply needs. The Childcare Program director ensures proper record keeping parental permissions program goals outcome documentation and health safety standards. This is a fulltime exempt position.
SPECIFICS: The specifics of this position involve directing logistics and operating the Broomfield Corps alongside the childcare program. In this role you will start by undergoing training and screening to fulfill the state of Colorados licensing standards and requirements. In this role you must meet and sustain the qualifications required by the state of Colorado. This licensing process must be completed before working with children in the childcare program. Responsibilities include scheduling activities snacks games field trips enforcing rules and supervising schoolaged children. The work schedule will be from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. during ASP and from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. during SDC. The Childcare Director will ensure that program staffing remains current with training requirements and screenings. They must also guarantee that all staff are PTM trained and up to date.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Administer the program to ensure it meets or exceeds the legal requirements for staffing facility nutrition and safety regarding the Colorado Department of Social Services and the Colorado Department of Human Services Child Care Licensing rules and regulations.
This position is required to be a mandatory reporter.
Be a positive role model for schoolaged children.
Maintain all state licensing standards and The Salvation Army policies and procedures.
Responsible for planning and implementing the program and supervising the staff.
Ensure documentation complies with the State of Colorado licensing standards.
Facilitate activities including but not limited to group games arts and crafts STEM and active play.
Take attendance of children before and after each transition.
Implement program rules and discipline strategies. Encourage good behavior.
Monitor and manage participant behavior during travel and in public while on field trips.
Maintain an environment where all children feel safe.
Report official incidents; record and process information with the Corps Officers.
Fill out incident behavior notice or concern and such reports as needed.
Coordinate dropoff and pickup by checking the participant pickup list and verifying parent/guardian identification.
Maintain confidentiality of all participant files.
Communicate with parents/guardians. This includes but is not limited to providing information about plans for the following day informing about any injuries or behavior issues answering questions or concerns and giving insight into their childs day.
Supervise schoolaged children during field trips.
Coordinate logistics with food preparation serving and clean up.
Perform setup and cleanup for the day. This includes sweeping cleaning tables and chairs putting away activity supplies cleaning toys taking out trash and cleaning bathrooms.
Report all issues or concerns to the Corps Officers.
Performs other duties as required.

Able to communicate effectively with both internal and external audiences.
Promote collaboration and work by attending community gatherings and establishing relationships with neighborhood schools within your area.
Under the direct supervision of the Corps Officer will work with them to implement all aspects of the programs.
Efficient computer skills with WORD EXCEL PPT Canva and other corporate software. Training will be included.
Education Experience Skills Qualifications:
General:
1. The childcare program director must have verifiable education or training in working with schoolaged children in such areas as recreation education scouting or 4H and the childcare program director must have completed at least one of the following qualifications:
a. A four (4) year college degree with a major such as recreation outdoor education education with a specialty in art elementary or early childhood education or a subject in the human service field; or
b. Two years of college training and six (6) months (910 hours) of satisfactory and verifiable fulltime or equivalent parttime paid or volunteer experience since attaining the age of eighteen (18) in the care and supervision of four (4) or more children; or
c. Three years (5460 hours) of satisfactory and verifiable fulltime or equivalent parttime paid or volunteer experience and one of the following qualifications:
1. Complete six semester hours or nine quarter hours in course work from a regionally accredited college or university; or
2. 40 clock hours of training in course work applicable to schoolage children and the departmentapproved courses in injury prevention and playground safety for School
2. Satisfactory experience includes experience in the care and supervision of four or more children from the ages of four (4) eighteen (18) years old unrelated to the individual since attaining the age of eighteen (18).
3. Certifications in First Aid CPR Medical Administration and Universal Precautions.
4. Minimally 21 years of age with a valid Colorado Drivers License and an acceptable driving record.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Able to type at least 45 wpm and use other office equipment. Computer proficient effective in the use and implementation of Microsoft Office which includes Word and Excel
Excellent written and communication skills in English (Spanish is also desirable) including spelling and grammar skills
Ability to maintain a cheerful and positive attitude under periods of stress and in helping negative people
Willingness to work as a team player in the staff environment. A desire to work in partnership with staff for the good of the whole office in a positive and upbeat manner
Wellorganized selfmotivated capable of organizing and completing duties with minimal supervision
Knowledge of The Salvation Army practices and organization is desirable
This position requires driving:
A minimum age of 21 (for insurance provision) and possession of a valid instate drivers license is required.
An MVR will be processed every year in accordance with The Salvation Armys policies.
Background Check
o Continued employment will be contingent upon a biennial (every two years) background check that is processed in accordance with The Salvation Armys policies.
