Flourish Australia has exciting opportunities for Peer Workers and Mental Health Workersto join ourSydneyteam!
The positions available are:
- Closedterm fulltime (76 hours/fortnight) until 30 June 2026 based in Surry Hills
- Closedterm fulltime (76 hours/fortnight) until 30 June 2026 based in Caringbah
- Closedterm parttime (60.8hours/fortnight) until 30 June 2026 based in Marrickville
- Working Monday to Friday
- Level 3on the Flourish Australia Enterprise Agreement (2018) equivalent to$37.35$40.05p/h Super Taxfree salary packaging
About the Opportunities
As a Peer Worker or Mental Health Worker with Flourish Australia your own life experience of a mental health issue and personal recovery will provide a distinct advantage as you mentor and support people with lived experience of a mental health issue. You will be required to use this lived experience openly appropriately and effectively to build professional relationships with the people you support that also have a lived experience of a mental health issue.
On a day to day basis you will:
- Connect with support build reciprocity trust and shared experience with people who access our services.
- Guide and support each person in their recovery and be strengths ability and possibility focused.
- Effectively model hope and recovery.
- Ensure that individual support is provided to a person that accesses Flourish Australia services thatmeet their recovery journey goals and is strengths based and led by the person wherever possible.
- Encourage shared learning experiences and support skill development at every opportunity through selfdirected learning information and education.
We value lived experience and believe peer support is a powerful part of the mental health recovery journey. Therefore ourPeer Workerroles are for those willing to use their lived experience and personal recovery to mentor people with a lived experience of a mental health issue. You will use your lived experience to inform and contribute to staff learning serviceunderstanding and delivering personled strengths focused recovery based service.

Please note Successful candidates must maintain a Class C drivers license and proof of comprehensive insurance must be provided when required. You may be directed to use your private motor vehicle in the course of performing your duties when anorganisational pool motorvehicle is will receive the Travelling Transport and Fares Allowance when using your private vehicle for work related purposes.

Selection Criteria
Essential:
- Certificate IV or above in a relevant field OR a minimum of 2years fulltime experience working in the human services field (as recognised by Flourish Australia)
- A strong commitment to recoverybased practice in the workplace.
- A personal lived experience of a mental health issue and recovery.
- Understanding of the challenges faced by people with a lived experience of a mental health issue.
- Understanding of and ability to effectively use Microsoft Office and knowledge of data information management systems.
- A currentAustralian Drivers Licence.

All appointments with Flourish Australias Mental Health Services are subject to an NDIS Worker Screening clearance a National Criminal History Check a WWCC previous employment reference checks satisfactory Australian residency status and other background checks. All successful applicants will be required to declare any private or secondary employment prior to commencement in line with Flourish Australias Private or Secondary Employment Policy.
