Job Summary

Denver Health Medical Center is recruiting for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our ASPIRE residency. This one year long immersive APP residency program will expose residents to multiple medical/surgical areas of our Level I Academic Medical Center. This residency is a perfect match for a new APPs interested in expanding their clinical skill sets and for in practice APPs interested in gaining experience in other areas.

The Advanced Practice Provider Residents (ASPIRe) will rotate through multiple medical and surgical specialties during the first half of the program gaining exposure and early skill acquisition in each specialty. Halfway through the oneyear program the residents and Program Director will choose the most likely career pathway and begin to focus on fewer specialties with the goal of being ready to step into a fulltime position upon graduation with limited need for onboarding. Residents will be responsible for providing direct patient care under supervision appropriate to their level of experience. By the end of the program it will be expected that residents are able to manage a full specialty clinic schedule make appropriate clinical decisions and referrals and interpret clinical data. Successful completion of the program will be dependent on satisfactory reviews from all specialty clinic directors.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide outpatient (occasional inpatient) medical and surgical specialty care under appropriate supervision (80%)
  • Participate in weekly educational sessions for the ASPIRe and Primary Care APP residents (10%)
  • Develop and complete a scholarly project in the specialty of their choice by conclusion of the program (10%)


Education:

  • Masters Degree Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner from an accredited medical school Required


Work Experience:

  • None Required


Licenses:

  • PAPhysician Assistant State Medical Board Required or
  • NPNurse Practitioner AANPCB American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board Required


Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Capable of providing professional health care in a Safety Net outpatient clinic or inpatient setting.
