JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
The Palmer Museum of Art at Penn State is seeking a parttime Visitor Services Associate. This is a frontline position responsible for establishing initial interactions with visitors to the museum to ensure that all feel welcome supported and informed about museum offerings. Visitor Service Associates are responsible for checking visitors in informing visitors about museum policies and current activities promoting museum membership assisting with wayfinding and conducting visitor surveys. Visitor Services Associates also provide services as necessary to accommodate groups and persons with disabilities; perform additional customer service duties as assigned for museum events and projects; and assist visitors with Penn Statebased inquiries and wayfinding as needed.
Availability for weekend shift(s) of 11am5pm on Saturdays and/or Sundays are required in addition to availability for 1012 hours per week Wednesdays and Fridays 11am5pm and Thursdays 11am8pm. Projected weekly hours will total 1218.
Minimum qualifications: 12 years of experience in a customer service role. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including sensitivity to multiculturalism and diversity. Ability to work with a wide variety of people including students faculty staff community members and volunteers. Experience with Microsoft Office365 SharePoint Excel and Word. Experience in an arts nonprofit or educational setting is a plus.
