Job Goal(s):
Serves as a resource to MultiTiered System of Support (MTSS) teams with the goals of helping students to achieve socioemotional and academic progress by providing individualized support to students staff and families in the areas of behavioral and mental health in relationship to education.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Masters of Social Work Masters in Counseling and/or related field.
Certification:
Licensed by the State of Michigan in their relative field as a full or limited license (LLMSW LMSW LPC LLPCLLP LMFT)
Work Experience:
Minimum of two years experience providing clinical services in a school setting or mental health agency.
Skills:
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience coordinating mental health services
- Experience conducting assessments and planning interventions
- Experience in direct counseling of individual and groups of youth
- Knowledge of and ability to collaborate with outside agencies
- Ability to work well with other school staff to achieve maximum benefits for students
- Knowledge of and experience with Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and/or other screenings in K12 educational settings.
- Knowledge of and experience with Multi Tiered Systems of Support as it relates to behavior.
- Knowledge of childhood development
Essential Job Functions:
- Participate as a member of the building MTSS support team to assist all students in making socioemotional and academic progress
- Collaborate with school staff and community partners to organize and systematically deliver appropriate mental health consultations services and referrals.
- Provide assessments evaluations service planning and required documentation in a timely mannerProvide individual or group counseling to identify students in areas such as coping skills self esteem self regulation interpersonal relationships etc.
- Work with classroom teachers and other professionals on the development of classwide interventions individual interventions functional behavioral assessments and behavior intervention plans.
- Meet regularly with schoolbased teams to discuss student strengths needs and programmatic development and provide recommendations to programs for best practices
- Maintain a paper file and electronic records documenting all interactions and referrals and entering data according to program guidelines
- Consult with School Social Worker School Counselor Content Specialist and Teachers.
- Keep up to date with the current best practices research and trends regarding trauma and behavior.
- Accept feedback in a professional manner.
- Demonstrate ethical handling of confidential student and parent information.
- Demonstrate reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Adhere to Van Buren ISD policies and procedures.
- Complete assigned responsibilities within agreed upon or established timelines.
- Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.
- Valid drivers license required.
Terms of Employment: As per master agreement and provisions established by the Van Buren Board of Education.
