Job Summary:
The Staff Accountant reports directly to the Director of Finance and will be expected to perform the following responsibilities including but not limited to:
Billing & Accounts Receivable:
- Manage and generate monthly tuition and services billing for both School District and Private Pay students and families including verifying attendance logs required for billing Districts.
- Prepare monthly invoices and bill families for all Student Activities programs.
- Investigate and respond to questions on student billing transactions as needed.
- Coordinate Regional Center Purchases of Service and process related payments; oversee related recordkeeping.
- Follow up with open receivable balances monthly to ensure timely payment.
Cash Management:
- Process tuition event and fundraising payments and student activities checks via bank scanner.
- Prepare deposit slips and make bank deposits as needed.
- Reconcile and record all scanned and manual deposit transactions in Quickbooks with matching documentation.
- Reconcile and record all bank transactions from Stripe Square and QGiv payment processors in Quickbooks with matching documentation.
- Prepare bank statement reconciliations for Director of Finance review and approval.
Monthly Close:
- Assist the Director of Finance with monthly journal entries as required.
- Prepare assigned balance sheet reconciliations on a timely basis
Other:
- Assist with Accounts Payables and Payroll responsibilities as needed.
- Support the annual financial audit as required.
- Assist Director of Finance and Executive Director on other financial projects as needed.
Job Requirements:
- Minimum of five years experience in bookkeeping and/or accounting and finance preferably in billing accounts receivable cash management.
- Nonprofit/Independent School sector experience preferable.
- Requires solid knowledge and understanding of accounting principles.
- Highly detail oriented motivated wellorganized flexible and collaborative individual who enjoys working in a teamdriven environment.
- Able to multitask in a fast paced deadline driven environment while always maintaining a customer service focus.
- Common sense professional decorum and clear and concise communication skills are critical due to regular interaction with parents faculty and administrators and business partners.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office especially Excel and Word.
- Proficient in Google applications including Gmail Google Sheets and Google Docs.
- Inperson attendance necessary to provide effective performance during normal school hours.
