Department Summary

The School of Planning Public Policy and Management has an operating budget of $5 Million annually and is the academic home for 29 tenure track faculty members as well as many nontenure track faculty and adjunctlevel instructors. The Department of the History of Art & Architecture (HAA) offers undergraduate Masters and PhD programs in the history theory and criticism of art architecture and visual culture. It is also home to the Graduate Certificate in Museum Studies.

Position Summary

The College of Designs School of Planning Public Policy and Management and Department of History of Art & Architecture (PPPM/HAA) is looking for a dynamic and innovative professional to join its team as its Business Operations Manager. As the primary administrative officer and liaison with the Central Business Services Office (CBSO) you will help shape PPPM/HAAs financial operational and staffing processes contributing to the realization of its mission and goals.

In this influential position you will exercise broad responsibility and independent decisionmaking authority overseeing crucial functions such as budgeting expenditure tracking and reporting. Your role includes financial forecasting and projections and ensuring the efficient utilization of resources to fulfill the PPPM/HAAs mission. You will play an important role in nonacademic personnel actions including hiring and you will supervise a dedicated team foster a collaborative and thriving work environment. This position reports directly to the Associate Dean for Finance and Operations (ADFO) in the College of Design.

As the key connection between PPPM/HAA leadership Designs ADFO and the CBSO youll play a vital role in aligning the units business operations with the universitys guidelines. Your collaborative efforts with the Director of PPPM/HAA will be instrumental in driving the units success.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Three years of supervisory experience of two or more employees or an equivalent combination of lead work experience and/or supervision training.
Experience in accounting budget management compiling and reporting financial information and the ability to analyze and track budgets.

Ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team environment and with a variety of stakeholders including faculty staff and students from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
Ability to meet deadlines proactively anticipate needs manage and prioritize multiple tasks or projects and work independently without supervision while handling frequent interruptions and shifting priorities to ensure the success of projects and regular workflow.
Excellent problemsolving ability including attention to detail and consistent followthrough.
Ability to manage conflict with tact and diplomacy and to use sound judgment and initiative particularly as it relates to handling sensitive and/or confidential information and escalate appropriately if needed for further resolution.
Ability to improve administrative processes and delegate responsibilities to form a crosstrained team environment and use resources effectively.
Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills including the ability to analyze summarize and effectively present and distribute data and reports to the Associate Dean and Director PPPM/HAA.
Ability to analyze and develop fiscal recommendations.
Proficiency with Word Excel PowerPoint and Outlook (or similar scheduling/calendar program) and familiarity with Microsoft Office applications
Commitment to and experience with promoting and enhancing diversity and equity.
Advanced knowledge of accounting concepts

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelors degree in business or accounting.
Experience in purchasing contracting and financial analysis.
Advanced experience with coordination of budgets to support teaching plans and ensure fiscal responsibility.
Knowledge of and experience with UO software platforms including Banner Cognos and MyTrack.
Experience in an institution of higher education and understanding of related organizational structures policies and procedures; or equivalent experience in a similarly complex organization.
