Job Description

Job Overview

The Student Support Services Coordinator will assist with hiring supervision and evaluation of over school social workers and interns. The Coordinator will provide oversight to the Positive Experiences in Educational Relationships (PEER) program and will work collaborative with school sponsors and teams. The Coordinator will establish data pathways to monitoring needs tracking relevant data observing evidencebased curriculum implementation in the classroom providing coaching feedback to social workers and assisting in long range planning. The Coordinator must understand how social workers will support students in a MultiTiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework and will work collaboratively with the Supervisor Student Support Services and other members of the team to support schoolbased staff strategic actions and the department.

Roles and Responsibilities

The following information is intended to describe the overall nature and scope of the work being performed. This is not a comprehensive listing of all responsibilities or tasks; work may differ and other work may be assigned when deemed appropriate.

  • Assists with hiring supervision and evaluation of school social workers and interns.
  • Provides oversight to the social work intern program and field supervisors.
  • Assists with developing supporting and evaluating social work programming at the elementary school level.
  • Collaborates with various stakeholders to support student focused programming.
  • Assists in overseeing the mentor program for new social workers.
  • Provides clinical oversight for individual and group counseling.
  • Assists and facilitates in ongoing monthly meetings with school social workers.
  • Collaborates and assists with data collection and analysis to demonstrate initiative progress and effectiveness.
  • Assists the Supervisor in managing the curriculum and clinical supply inventory for School Social Workers.
  • Assists the Supervisor in developing and implementing procedures and guidelines related socioculturalassessments and special education regulations.
  • Assists the Supervisor in designing and delivering training and professional learning to staff.
  • Coordinates services with county mental health and other community agencies.
  • Performs designated special projects for the Assistant Superintendent of Pupil Services Director of Student Services and Supervisor of Student Services.

Qualifications

Below are the minimum qualifications for this job. Equivalent combinations of education and experience are also acceptable.

Education

Masters Degree in Social Work (MSW) or Counseling

Experience

Minimum of five years of successful experience in the public schools as a school social worker or supervising social workers preferably with progressive responsibility

Licenses and Certifications

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Experience providing clinical supervision and case management
  • Knowledge and understanding of local State and Federal requirements related to confidentiality and effectively executes this understanding in the workplace
  • Proven professional leadership qualities and personal characteristics necessary to work effectively with students teachers parents administrators and community agencies
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
