About the team and role
The Risk Operations team at Scribd plays a critical role in protecting the business by managing payments and fraud risk to reduce costs while also driving customer and business value. As Sr. Manager of Risk Operations Payments & Fraud you will be key to helping us build a worldclass crossfunctional payments team. This role is not a Product Manager but must work like one collaborating across departments navigating complexity and delivering impact. Youll go beyond reactive risk mitigation to proactive risk management that also improves business outcomes. This role is for a strategic operator who can create clarity connect dots across teams and embed risk thinking into how Scribd builds and scales.
You will / Responsibilities / What you will do
You will lead a small but mighty team of Risk Operations analysts. This team owns payments risk and fraud operations across the following key areas while partnering closely with Product Analytics and Finance teams:
Chargeback Strategy & Prevention
Monitor and reduce chargeback rates across processors
Design and manage dispute strategies to improve win rates
Manage vendor relationships and stay ahead of regulatory changes
Fraud Detection & Rule Optimization
Analyze fraud trends and key risk metrics
Implement and improve fraud rules in partnership with analytics and vendors
Lead fraud related investigations (including card testing attacks and content fraud)
Payments Optimization Support
Partner with Product Analytics Finance to monitor and improve payment processor performance
Support onboarding and optimization of new payment tools and vendors
Help futureproof the payments platform against fraud risk and cost inefficiencies
CrossFunctional Risk Insights & Integration
Drive visibility with dashboards reporting and regular updates to executive leadership
Effectively prioritize risks issues and incidents
Advocate for feature needs and preventative improvements with Product
You Have / Were looking for / Requirements
6 years experience in Payments Risk Fraud Prevention Risk Operations or related fields
A playercoach you will be expected to make strong individual contributions with also actively coaching and developing two analysts to elevate overall team performance
Strong expertise managing chargeback programs and dispute strategies
Handson experience optimizing fraud rules and using risk software and tools
Knowledge of global payments ecosystems with experience navigating payments fraud and chargebacks in international markets and optimizing payment processor performance
Strong analytical skills with ability to define key metrics track trends and drive databacked decisions
Skilled crossfunctional operator who can partner with and connect dots across Product Analytics Finance Engineering Legal and Operations
Strategic thinker who can also execute balancing longterm planning with tactical action
Excellent communication skills you can present clearly and concisely to executives and translate complex topics into actionable insights
Experience working in subscription consumer tech and/or marketplace environments
1 year of people management experience is required
Ideally you have / Bonus points
Experience with SQL Databricks and/or Looker
At Scribd your base pay is one part of your total compensation package and is determined within a range. Our pay ranges are based on the local cost of labor benchmarks for each specific role level and geographic location. San Francisco is our highest geographic market in the United States.
In the state of California the reasonably expected salary range is between $132000 minimum salary in our lowest geographic market within California to $175000 maximum salary in our highest geographic market within California.
In the United States outside of California the reasonably expected salary range is between $115000 minimum salary in our lowest US geographic market outside of California to $166500 maximum salary in our highest US geographic market outside of California.
In Canada the reasonably expected salary range is between $115000 CAD minimum salary in our lowest geographic market to $161250 CAD maximum salary in our highest geographic market.
We carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation including but not limited to experience; jobrelated skill sets; relevant education or training; and other business and organizational needs. The salary range listed is for the level at which this job has been scoped. In the event that you are considered for a different level a higher or lower pay range would apply. This position is also eligible for a competitive equity ownership and a comprehensive and generous benefits package.
