Maintenance Technician

Working at our Vandalia Facilities:

Our Vandalia facility is located 50 minutes north of the GE Aerospace headquarters and sits just north of the city of Daytonknown widely as the birthplace of aviationwhere the Wright Brothers built the worlds first aircraft in their bicycle shop in the heart of downtown Dayton. This business boasts a rich history in operation for over 100 years. At over 140000 square feet the Vandalia facility rests on 25 acres right off Interstate 75.

At GE Aerospace in Vandalia we specialize in manufacturing and servicing worldclass power generation and electrical control and distribution equipment for a variety of military and commercial customers. Vandalia is also home to a product development lab where operators and engineers work together to invent the future of flight.

Role Overview:

Were looking for a candidate with electrical/mechanical aptitude to help us sustain a robust preventive maintenance program. This position is responsible for repairing and installing production/manufacturing equipment.

  • Inspects equipment for proper functioning and performs preventative maintenance duties per manufacturers specifications.
  • Diagnoses equipment malfunctions and makes repairs or adjustments as needed.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on production equipment using Maximo software
  • Repair all production equipment as needed
  • Perform breakdown analysis
  • Perform general housekeeping
  • Upgrade production lines with new equipment/technology
  • Work with outside contractors working on assigned line
  • Comply with GMP safety and audit standards
  • Work independently under limited supervision (selfmanagement)
  • Documentation of work schedule and work tasks completed

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3 Years Industrial Mechanical/ Electrical Maintenance Experience to include:
    • Troubleshooting mechanical breakdowns (pinpointing and fixing breakdowns diagnostics problem solving).
    • Mechanical systems (e.g. gear boxes chains sprockets motors seals bearings).
    • Drive Components Belts chains Clutches & Brakes etc.
    • Pumps (e.g. troubleshooting replacing seals/motors understanding specs).
    • Electricity & Electrical systems from 480v 3 phase 24v control

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Must adhere to all ISO Quality Standards
  • Knowledge of safety procedures PPE Lockout/Tagout etc.
  • Professional technical training or certificate program in industrial maintenance mechanics or related field.
  • Pneumatics/air compression (solenoids valves cylinders motor brakes reading troubleshooting).
  • Preventative maintenance (computerized preventative charts/data).
  • Schematics (e.g. electrical blueprints with switches starters maps relays).
  • Product manuals (e.g. reading and applying knowledge to make repairs).
  • Reading mechanical drawings (e.g. mechanical electrical hydraulics & pneumatics).
  • Electrical systems (e.g. starters fuses contacts relays).
  • HVAC systems.
  • Material fabrication and welding skills.
  • Basic rigging knowledge
  • Knowledge of SERVO (e.g. intelligent/robotic motors incoders etc.).
  • Must be ready to work in a collaborative team environment including nonmaintenance personnel.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with the team/management.
  • Forklift and manlift experience.

Additional Information:

  • Pay starts at $25.00 per hour
  • 2nd Shift hours are 2pm 10:30pm with a 6% shift differential.
  • This position requires work near heat noise gas and chemicals. The position requires frequent lifting climbing standing walking crouching squatting bending and kneeling.
  • The position may require weekend and/or holiday work.
