Job Description
The purpose of this role is to amplify our engineering teams effectiveness by owning the infrastructure tooling and systems that support their work. This includes handson development and maintenance of internal tools infrastructure and automation alongside responsibility for security and compliance needs. By reducing friction embedding DevSecOps practices and enabling fast safe delivery this role allows engineers to stay focused on building our core product. The person in this role will also mentor others and champion best practices that lift technical excellence across the team.
Responsibilities and Tasks
- Design develop and maintain internal tooling and automated solutions to improve developer efficiency system observability and reliability.
- Lead infrastructure initiatives including handson management and automation of AWS environments (including via Terraform) and GitLab administration ensuring robust secure and efficient systems.
- Own technical aspects of security and compliance initiatives specifically SOC2 compliance tooling security scanning automation penetration testing integration and proactive vulnerability management.
- Coach engineering teams in DevSecOps practices including robust CI/CD pipelines monitoring logging tracing and metrics collection to ensure high availability and operational visibility.
- Drive adoption of best practices and standards for software development tooling such as integrated development environments debugging local environment setup dependency management and build optimizations.
- Serve as an escalation point for infrastructure and tooling support providing deep engineering expertise to diagnose and resolve complex problems and design internal systems that make support more efficient over time. As the company scales progressively plan for and build an outsourced L2/L3 support capability to take on routine support work.
- Guide and mentor engineering team members fostering a culture of continuous learning technical growth and operational excellence.
Qualifications
Core Engineering & Development Skills (Critical)
- Demonstrable experience as a software engineer building internal tooling and automation.
- Strong programming and scripting skills (e.g. Python Go Bash).
- Proficient with infrastructureascode tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
DevSecOps & Infrastructure Automation (Critical)
- Deep understanding of DevSecOps principles and handson experience automating security and compliance processes.
- Expertlevel experience in AWS services and container orchestration (ECS Docker).
- Strong familiarity with GitLab CI/CD GitOps practices and automated deployment strategies.
ProblemSolving & Debugging (Critical)
- Expert ability to diagnose complex infrastructure and application issues through systematic problemsolving approaches.
- Comfortable debugging and tracing through existing codebases and distributed systems.
Software Development Practices (Core)
- Strong understanding of agile methodologies and software delivery practices.
- Proven experience integrating tooling and infrastructure workflows seamlessly into development cycles.
