About:
We are Seeking a proactive Tooling/Production Engineer to drive continuous improvement and support manufacturing processes in a precision assembly environment preferably HVAC. The role involves applying lean manufacturing principles collaborating with design teams managing projects and providing technical guidance to enhance product quality efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set and implement continuous improvement objectives across production processes.
- Utilize lean manufacturing tools (Kaizen DOE 8D FMEA) to identify and execute cost reduction and workflow improvements.
- Collaborate with design engineers to update tooling and machine designs based on mechanical engineering principles.
- Provide manufacturing support to project teams and document product designs cost analyses and engineering changes.
- Assist in redesigning components to enhance system quality efficiency and cost savings.
- Lead root cause analysis and problem-solving efforts for product and process issues.
- Participate in cross-functional teams to launch new products and implement assembly line modifications.
- Manage project schedules and coordinate work internally and across departments to meet deadlines and budgets.
- Develop and maintain supplier relationships focused on equipment uptime efficiency and quality improvements.
- Mentor technicians and support staff on manufacturing best practices.
- Support ongoing business needs through additional projects and day-to-day issue resolution.
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years experience in production or manufacturing engineering with proven process design and implementation skills preferably in HVAC automotive or appliance industries.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing engineering principles lean methods (value stream mapping Kanban line balancing time studies).
- Experience with fabrication/stamping tooling molding assembly and process controls preferred.
- Familiarity with HVAC specifications and standards highly desirable.
- Proficient in PFMEA Process Control Plans Flow Diagrams DFA/DFM engineering change processes and operator instructions.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and coach junior staff.
- Skilled in MS Office AutoCAD and ERP/MRP systems (e.g. Mapics).
- Strong analytical organizational and communication skills with technical leadership capabilities.
- Excellent judgment work ethic and integrity.
Education & Certification:
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Industrial Electrical Electronics or Systems Engineering required.
- Six Sigma certification preferred.
