Job Description

Job Summary

Reporting to the Senior Deputy Athletics Director for External Operations this positions primary focus will be to collaborate among units in and affiliated with the Athletics Department and within and around the University to maximize synergy resulting in additional revenue streams. The Associate AD for Development will develop and execute strategies ensuring collaboration and coordination resulting in distinctive storytelling that aligns with the athletic departments vision and goals for revenue growth.

The Associate AD for Development will work closely with the football program to develop strategies to increase donors and additional opportunities to help the program continue to compete in the upper echelon of the Mountain West. This includes increasing One Spartan Nation membership as well as identifying key prospects that will help advance the football program.

The incumbent will work closely with the development staff to increase membership to One Spartan Nation while reaching fundraising goals; Create a strategic development plan that develops a strong portfolio and major gift prospects to advance the mission of the university and athletics department; and utilize key areas in the new Habbas Law Athletics Center for naming rights opportunities to help generate additional fundraising goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with athletics executive leadership team coaches and affiliated units to create successful strategies to increase revenue and donations.
  • Monitor changes in NCAA policies federal legislation and other regulatory developments affecting college athletics including but not limited to issues related to NIL studentathlete compensation and studentathlete rights.
  • For assigned responsibilities execute strategic priorities as defined by leadership that advance the departments vision mission goals while driving results growing the donor base and revenues that are needed for success.
  • Prepare written proposals information materials gift illustrations and other materials needed to secure major gifts and multiyear pledges.
  • Actively Collaborate with Corporate and Foundation Relations to initiate engagement between downtown San Jose and Silicon Valley business leaders and SJSU Athletics.
  • Actively collaborate with Planned Giving and University Advancement major gift officers in preparing and communicating solicitation strategies for assigned prospects in portfolio. Ensure that university guidelines are adhered to embracing high ethical and moral standards of behavior.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Athletics and Senior Deputy Athletics Director to strategically fill the ADs suite for Football and away game travel for Football (and other specified road games).
  • Identify major gift prospects for Athletics priority projects for proper advancement in the Development process.

  • Knowledge of NCAA and conference guidelines policies rules and regulations
  • Proficient in Google docs and ability to learn tech platforms as needed
  • Ability to be flexible and possess a strong customer service ethic

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree
  • Two (2) years experience in athletics development or revenue generation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters Degree
  • Five (5) years experience in athletics development or revenue generation

Compensation

Classification: Administrator II
Anticipated Hiring Range: $8875/month
CSU Salary Range: $5053/month $16221/month

The final hiring salary will be commensurate with experience.
