Youth Navigation Center

Description

Center for Human Services (CHS) is seeking a reliable and caring person to join our Youth Navigation Center team as a fulltime Coordinatorproviding support and care in Hutton Houseour program for youth experiencing homelessness in Stanislaus County. The ideal candidate will bring a positive and consistent client focus.

Position Summary: Responsible for overall daily management and supervision of staff/ volunteers in resource center for teens and their families includes short term shelter for youth

DUTIES:
1. Supervises trains and evaluates youth specialist and supervisors.
2. Develops and maintains schedule of youth specialists and supervisors to ensure 24 coverage.
3. Monitors household budget.
4. Ensures staff is provided all required training.
5. Assists with youth development activities.
6. Supervises volunteers provides training and monthly volunteer support meetings.
7. Assumes assigned Program Manager duties in Program Managers absence.
8. Performs childcare and supervision duties including but are not limited to:

  • Supervision protection and care of children individually and ingroup at all times.
  • Assistance to each child in working with a group and handling individual problems.
  • Administration of discipline and setting limits for behavior.
  • Notation of the childs progress: identification of the possible need for professionalservices; and communication of such findings to other staff.
  • Any reasonable duty or function normally performed by a parent or legal guardian.

9. Serves as a CHS Hutton House representative at community meetings events andpublic presentations.
10. Provides on call support to staff.
11. Maintains facility according to licensing and agency standards.
12. Assists with program development
13. Performs other duties as necessary.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. BA required previous supervisory experience required.

2. May consider experience in lieu of degree.

3. One or more years of experience in a similar field.

4. Meet all state licensing requirements for group homes; including all employees/applicants be at least twentyone (21) years of age.

5. Meet all Community Care Licensing requirements and have the ability to obtain and maintain an Administrator Certification.

6. Working knowledge of community resources.

7. Ability to handle crisis situations and decide appropriate course of action.

8. Ability to maintain and monitor required charting duties.

9. Ability to ascend and descend stairs.

10. Pass agency paid criminal justice screening including fingerprints.

11. Pass agency paid TB (Tuberculosis) screening.

12. Pass agency paid health screening and/or drug testing if required.

13. Requires First Aid training within seven (7) days of employment recertification as necessary

14. Valid California drivers license and current proof of auto insurance coverage required

15. Pass agency paid MVR clearance with no more than 2 points if you are under the age of 25 our insurance company will not allow any points

4. Will promote and support a culturally and linguistically diverse workforce and be responsive to the population within our service area.

5. Maintain confidentiality and confidential information in accordance with legal standards and/or agency regulations.

6. Participate in assigned scheduled agency meetings inservice trainings conferences and other trainings as determined by the supervisor. This includes serving as an agency representative at assigned community meetings.

7. Observance of assigned working hours and program appointments by demonstrating promptness and thorough preparation.

8. Performance of assigned duties with a positive attitude and in the spirit of teamwork collaboration and cooperation.

9. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

10. Perform job duties in a safe manner to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and others.

11. Participates in and/or supports agency fund development activities and events.

12. Preparation of assigned reports work records statistical data job performance evaluations work plans etc. in a timely manner.
