Position Summary: Oversees the daily operations and strategic direction of the districtsaccounting and payroll functions including general accounting payroll contracts accountingaccounts payable fixed asset accounting and control and financial reporting. Ensures allfinancial activities are conducted in compliance with the Board of Educations policies districtbusiness policies and procedures state and federal fiscal management laws and regulationsand generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). The Director of Accounting is responsiblefor ensuring accurate timely and transparent financial reporting supporting annual audits and maintaining strong internal controls to safeguard district assets. This role works crossfunctionally with departments such as Finance Payroll Procurement Talent Management and Federal to support operational efficiency and financial integrity across the organization. In addition the Director of Accounting provides leadership in the development and implementation of financial systems participates in budget planning and execution and plays a key role in policy development related to fiscal operations.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelors degree with accounting emphasis
Experience:
Ten (10) years of progressively responsible accounting experience directly related to the
duties and responsibilities preferred
Specialized Knowledge Licenses etc.:
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required
Knowledge of district and audit requirements for the provision of financial information
Knowledge of financial recordkeeping procedures laws regulations and standards
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Office Suite
Bilingual in Spanish preferred
