Job Description

Summary:

Joining the Humane Society of North Texas (HSNT) team means the chance to advocate for some of North Texas most vulnerable pets. Founded in 1905 HSNT is the oldest animal welfare organization in DFW. The board staff and volunteers of the Humane Society of North Texas are motivated by our unifying belief: kindness to animals is part of what it means to be human. HSNT is funded almost entirely by private donations as we are not affiliated with any national organization. We are proud to be recognized as a 4star charity by Charity Navigator putting us in the top 1% of all charities nationwide with respect to governance financial accountability and transparency.

Our goal is to improve the lives of North Texas pets and the people who love them. We offer our community various innovative affordable and lifesaving services. HSNT provides pet adoptions free or lowcost spay/neuter surgeries and vaccinations returning lost pets to their owners and cruelty investigations. HSNT operates five pet adoption centers across North Texas a transition facility in Tarrant County and a 33acre equine and livestock ranch in Johnson County. In 2022 HSNT touched the lives of more than 18800 pets and achieved a liverelease rate of 97%.

The Foundation & Corporate Grant Manager is responsible for the execution of a wellcoordinated and strategic plan to cultivate and solicit support from foundations and corporations. This position works to establish longterm partnerships strengthen existing relationships and research/identify new sources of support with foundations and corporations where the mission and potential for funding aligns with HSNTs key funding priorities. The successful candidate will draft all proposals and cases for support generating the required information to meet all criteria for various grant applications.

The Foundation & Corporate Grant Manager will conduct research and data analysis draft proposals and stewardship reports organize and participate in site visits; and fulfill other duties as assigned. This position also will participate in HSNTwide events to support Development and other teams as needed.

We are looking for someone who cares deeply about vulnerable pets and who is ambitious goaloriented organized and enjoys both writing (a lot!) and building relationships with key constituents.

Essential Functions:

  • Identify cultivate solicit and steward foundations and corporations to meet annual revenue goals.
  • Collaborate with program staff to identify funding needs create compelling cases for support and compile information and budgets for grant requests and followup reports.
  • Research write submit and present grant applications for shelter and program needs. Draft followup reporting for grants.
  • Manage annual grant calendar to meet critical deadlines.
  • Track spending of grant funds and coordinate grant requirements with the end user of funds. Facilitate all compliance related to grants.
  • Prepare timely grant stewardship reports as requested by foundations and donors. Coordinate stewardship plans often collaborating with HSNTs Communications team to communicate the receipt of grants externally.
  • Organize and support foundation visits tours presentations and other stewardship opportunities.
  • Assist with the corporate event sponsorship efforts for HSNTs special events.
  • Create opportunities for each grant proposal in Raisers Edge and update the status as needed to ensure an accurate pipeline report for HSNT leadership.
  • Enter all moves for foundation relationships in RE to ensure accurate reporting of actions and moves for each relationship.

Knowledge Skill and Abilities Needed to Perform the Essential Functions of this Position:

  • Bachelors Degree and a minimum of 23 years in grant writing and relationship development experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Raisers Edge (or similar CRM) grant tracking systems Foundation Research or Instrumental platforms MS Word MS Publisher and MS Excel software systems.
  • Detailed proofreader of content and correspondence.
  • Ability to develop cultivate solicit and steward a portfolio of prospects and foundation donors.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.

Working Conditions

  • The individual performing this job may be required to work more than 8 hours in a day or 40 hours in a week. Some weekend work may be required for special events.
