Job Description

MANUFACTURING & TEST ENGINEER (PCBA)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Act as the primary liaison between avionics engineering supply chain production etc. to ensure rate objectives are met through manufacturing and test operations
  • Support both part production and manufacturing/test process development within the teams area of focus and demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement
  • Evaluate electrical schematics and manufacturing process flow to improve test coverage of electrical hardware
  • Work with peer engineering and support teams to drive design updates in response to manufacturing issues part obsolescence and system requirement changes
  • Spearhead cost reduction efforts and implement initiatives to meet and exceed departmental objectives while never compromising on quality
  • Contribute to design reviews acting as an expert in design for manufacturability design for testability yield improvements supplier capabilities assessments quality control etc.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for nonconforming products troubleshooting issues root cause/failure investigations and corrective actions
  • Prepare engineering documentation necessary for the transition from development to production including assembly procedures test procedures standard operating procedures schematic diagrams bills of materials suitable alternate parts lists and mechanical drawings
  • Work creatively and innovate to support SpaceXs lofty goals by always being prepared to challenge the status quo

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree in electrical computer science mechanical aerospace chemical aeronautical or systems engineering
  • 1 years of handson experience driving the design development or manufacturing of mechanical/electrical components or systems (internship and project team experience is applicable)

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 3 years of professional experience in design and/or production of mechanical or electronics hardware systems
  • Experience implementing design for manufacture and design for test for electromechanical hardware
  • Experience analyzing circuits and developing functional test plans
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting/root causing electrical hardware failures
  • Experience developing and supporting PCBA manufacturing processes (i.e. InCircuit Testing SMT XRay)
  • Ability to create and deliver presentations for design and manufacturing readiness reviews
  • Experience transitioning products from design to manufacturing as part of a crossfunctional team in a fastpaced iterative design environment
  • Working proficiency with DFMEA and PFMEA methodology and implementation
  • SPC knowledge and experience applying statistical methods to track process capability
  • Basic competency with SQL databases
  • Demonstrated experience designing tooling in a manufacturing environment
  • Handson engineer with a passion for continuous improvement and building the best hardware
  • Capable of solving complex problems with little to no supervision on schedule as an individual or as a member of an integrated team
  • Experience in a fastpaced iterative design environment within the consumer electronics mobile handset medical devices aerospace marine or automotive industries.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be willing to work extended hours and/or overtime as needed
  • Some travel to outside vendors may be required (up to 10%)

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay range:

Manufacturing & Test Engineer/Level I: $95000.00 $115000.00/per year
Manufacturing & Test Engineer/Level II: $110000.00 $130000.00/per year

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a casebycase basis and may vary based on the following considerations: jobrelated knowledge and skills education and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
