Position Overview
The Artistic Manager at the School for Creative and Performing Arts (SCPA) is a key administrative leader responsible for the internal and external arts programs ensuring the overall quality and effectiveness of the schools artistic offerings. This role serves as an administrator of arts activities across Dance Drama Music Visual Arts Technical Theater and Writing and as a spokesperson and advocate for SCPA. The Artistic Manager plays a critical role in building strong relationships with parents the community and stakeholders and in advancing the mission and objectives of the school.
Responsibilities
Planning & Program Administration
- Assists the Principal in developing and preparing short and longterm plans master calendars course schedules student admission auditions faculty hiring and other artsrelated matters tied to the academic calendar.
- Maintains and creates the production calendar including school events and rentals.
- Assumes responsibility for daytoday internal and external operations and the overall quality and effectiveness of the Arts program.
Staffing & Budget Management
- Coordinates payroll and scheduling of extra staffing for events (security custodial plant operator and other pertinent personnel).
- Prepares and manages artistic production budgets.
- Manages supplemental staffing including recruiting and identifying lesson providers assisting departments with student placement hiring supplemental arts teachers and coordinating with the SCPA Fund on payments for private lesson teachers and classroom instructors.
Faculty & Staff Support
- Assists and/or cooperates with the administration and appropriate staff with publicity and media image assists on problems in individual courses of study and communicates with the teaching staff.
- Ensures smooth operation of the school through regular interaction with all staff communicating policies and other artsrelated matters supporting professional growth and development of arts faculty and promoting positive working relationships among arts and academic faculty.
Student Support & Development
- Encourages and guides students to maximize artistic growth and development through constructive communication with students and parents regarding student progress.
- Manages and schedules all auditions for the SCPA student body including public auditions (grades 412) change of major requests inhouse 3rd grade auditions arts exposure students Overture Awards Corbett Mayerson Competition and Senior Showcase.
- Schedules meetings with parents of students on probation or facing removal from SCPA including board contract meetings.
Production & Events Management
- Oversees all on and offcampus arts productions events and performances.
- Submits plans for approval to the principal coordinates with public relations staff and assists faculty with production planning and preparation.
- Manages student excusals paperwork food service coordination transportation arrangements and funding for events.
Community & External Relations
- Serves as spokesperson and advocate for the school in building strong relationships with parents and the community.
- Serves as liaison from the school to the Cincinnati arts and business communities.
- Participates in or with various support groups including the Mayeron Foundation SCPA Fund Instructional Leadership Team (ILT) Local School Decision Making Committee (LSDMC) systemwide professional committees the Network of Performing and Visual Arts Schools and other professional organizations.
- Serves as liaison to the Alumni Association and the PTSO.
- Serves on arts partners boards where applicable (CCO COO CCM).
- Serves at functions outside usual school hours and performs other associated tasks as needed or as assigned by the principal.
Qualifications: Education and Work Experience
- Bachelors Degree in a Performing Arts or Fine Arts discipline. Masters Degree in Arts Administration or a related field or equivalent professional experience preferred.
- Extensive professional experience as an artist with leadership experience in the arts.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and prior experience working with young artists in an educational (school) setting are required.

- Salary: Associate II per CAAS Agreement
