The Manitoba Mtis Federation(MMF) is the democratically elected National Government of the Red River Mtisalso known as the Manitoba Mtis. The Red River Mtis are a distinct IndigenousNation and People and Canadas Negotiating Partners in Confederation and theFounders of the Province of Manitoba.

The MMF seeks to fill one fulltimePolicy Analyst position within our Housing and Property Management Departmentlocated at 150 Henry Ave in Winnipeg MB. The Policy Analyst is responsible for researchingopportunities and potential prospects that will increase the control andparticipation of the Red River Mtis people over the issues programs anddecisions that affect their lives and to develop the capacity of Red River Mtispeople to identify their own interest and solutions for building healthy andsustainable communities.

Job Duties/Competencies:

  • Undertake research and analysis of a broadrange of social and political issues to assist in identifying theirimplications as they relate to Housing issues and policies;
  • Collect and review data through interviews andother data collection procedures;
  • Research comparable policy and/or program datafrom other jurisdictions;
  • Provide policy advice and analysis;
  • Develop an analytical framework consistent withMMF policy;
  • Conduct research analyze existing governmentpolicy and programs;
  • Prepare and present reports position papersand submissions for review by the Director and Housing Minister.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in relevant discipline or abachelors degree with several years of experience in policy and program reviewor development;
  • Experience working in the public sectorpreparing reports and budgets
  • Experience implementing strategies for majorprojects developing cost analysis and projections;
  • Experience conducting research and developing presentations;
  • Excellent communication interpersonalorganizational and analytical skills;
  • Background in housing with knowledge of localprovincial and federal housing resources;
  • Strong interpersonal organizationalcommunication and presentation skills;
  • Knowledge of Red River Mtis culture MMFprograms and services is a definite asset; and
  • Ability to travel valid Manitoba Driverslicense with access to a reliable vehicle.
