San Marcos Academy (SMA) located in San Marcos one of the fastest growing regions in Texas is a fully accredited private Christian school for students in PreK 3 through 12th grade with a boarding program for students in grades 612. Position Purpose:
The Director of Development is responsible for cultivating growing and managing a donor portfolio that generates more than $1.5 million in additional annual revenue. This role requires a strategic leader who is highly engaged in direct donor fundraising corporate foundation giving and planned giving efforts. The Director of Development reports to the Chief Development Officer (CDO) in all fundraising activities. The position is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive strategy to sustain and grow the SMA annual fundraising budget.
Essential Job Functions:
- Manage a portfolio of 150 donors and prospects with consistent engagement
- Focused on acquiring new donors and upgrading current donors
- Identify qualify cultivate solicit and steward donors in alignment with SMAs fundraising priorities with an emphasis on donor development and growth
- Secure and steward corporate sponsors individual gifts and inkind donations that support both donor acquisition and renewal strategies
- Travel up to 25% to engage with new and existing donors alumni sponsors and prospects across strategic regions
- Bachelors degree required
- Three years of experience or more in fundraising donor engagement or similar field
- Proven success in securing gifts and sponsorships of $10000
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Exceptional relationshipbuilding and fundraising skills
- Experience with fundraising cycle annual giving and event fundraising
- CRM proficiency (Blackbaud or similar)
- Strong public speaking and presentation skills with experience in donor engagement
- Professional ethical and collaborative team member
- Strong commitment to the mission of Christian education and the values of San Marcos Academy
Special Requirements:
Must be available for occasional evening and weekend events travel and donor engagements.
This position is in office/remote twelve months out of the year.
