Youth Support Worker Wrexham x2


We are looking to recruit 2 Youth Support worker as part of our Youth work provision in Wrexham. The role is delivered as part of a team to provide holistic culturally sensitive support in our Wrexham Youth Drop In.

7 hours per week (including 2 evenings a week)

12.60 per hour


Tenure

Fixed Term till end of 31st December 2025

EYST Wrexham Office and various locations around Wrexham

Successful candidate will need to have an enhanced DBS and Prove the right to work in the UK.

Aims of the Post


1.
To work directly with young ethnic minority people in Wrexham in particular young people aged 1018

2.
To work as part of a team running the Wrexham Youth club organising activities in a fun and safe environment


Principal Accountabilities and Main Duties


1.
To plan organise and deliver afterschool youth clubs and other project activities including trips and workshops ensuring they are inclusive and participative.


2.
To work directly with BME young people and families providing them with appropriate advice guidance signposting and referrals on a range of issues from education and health to social services and welfare benefits.


3.
To support the involvement of young people in all project activities ensuring their safety wellbeing enjoyment and dignity.


4.
To work as a team with other project workers and volunteers to ensure the safe delivery of all project activities.


5.
To manage and support a caseload of up to 8 BME CYP from the client group providing them with weekly support sessions support and liaising with a variety of external agencies as relevant to their situation.


6.
To support BME CYP through a whole family approach undertaking home visits as necessary.


7.
To actively engage with key statutory agencies such as the Social Services Schools Police etc and act as a key worker as required.


8.
To build active partnerships with other organisations to ensure effective crossreferral and effective pooling of resources as appropriate to give best possible service to the client group.


9.
To liaise with key agencies and attend network events as appropriate in order to facilitate integration into mainstream provision.

10.
To help deliver 18 awareness sessions and 3 Practitioner Learning Seminar each year to stakeholders & organisations.

11.
Engage with and inform schools and other key statutory and voluntary sector organisations about the project and establish referral pathways.


General Duties


1.
To assist the main Project Worker to help to organise plan and deliver youth club sessions and other project activities including trips and workshops ensuring they are inclusive and participative.

To provide onetoone support to young people accessing the project


3.
To support the involvement of young people in all project activities ensuring their safety wellbeing enjoyment and dignity.

4.
To work as a team with other project workers and volunteers to ensure the safe delivery of all project activities.


5.
To facilitate effective feedback and consultation mechanisms for young people to contribute to project development

6.
To ensure the collection entry and return of information as required for monitoring and evaluation


7.
Willingness to develop through introductory and continuous youth work training and qualifications. With a commitment to work towards EWC registration as a Youth Support Worker at level 3.


8.
To work within relevant health and safety legislation

9.
To ensure that the project promotes and reflects equality of opportunity and an inclusive approach at all levels


10.
To ensure that Safeguarding and all other relevant policies are implemented


11.
To uphold the confidentiality of information of clients

12.
To ensure administrative and financial systems are effectively maintained

13.
To carry out any other duties that may from time to time be required



Person Specification

Essential

1. Experience of working with young people from the target group


2. Knowledge understanding and empathy for issues affecting children and families from ethnic minorities including Refugee and Asylum seeker backgrounds.


3. Willingness to develop through introductory and continuous youth work training and qualifications. With a commitment to work towards EWC registration as a Youth Support Worker at level 3.


4. Experience of working with statutory and voluntary organisations and good knowledge of local youth opportunities.


5. A commitment to the participation of young people in project delivery


6. An understanding and commitment to equal opportunities


7. Ability to enthuse and mentor young people


8. Good communication and interpersonal skills


9. Excellent IT skills confident using online engagement platforms including Zoom and Teams


10. Excellent Social media skills


11. Organised and selfmotivated


12. Knowledge and understanding of Safeguarding including Digital Safeguarding issues.


13. Demonstrable commitment to EYSTs organisational values of Equality Human Rights Social Justice and Making a Positive Difference
