Job Description

The Cluster Business Manager Defence Channel is responsible for managing a team dedicated to driving sales and business growth within the defense sector. This includes leading a team of sales professionals to target defense employees personnel and their families while promoting and selling life insurance products or other relevant financial services. The role requires strong leadership strategic thinking and an indepth understanding of the defense market while ensuring effective management of relationships with key stakeholders. Key Responsibilities: Team Leadership & Development: Lead guide and motivate a team of sales professionals focused on the defense channel. Conduct regular team meetings to review performance share updates and align on strategies. Identify skill gaps and arrange for product training and development sessions to enhance team performance. Set clear performance objectives for the team and ensure alignment with organizational sales targets. Monitor team performance and provide constructive feedback to help them achieve their goals. Sales Strategy Implementation: Develop and execute a sales strategy tailored to the defense sector to meet business targets for insurance and financial products. Work closely with the defense channel team to identify and maximize sales opportunities including group policies and individual products for defense personnel. Drive new business acquisition and ensure consistent sales performance in the cluster. Defence Channel Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders within defense establishments including defense personnel and decisionmakers. Coordinate with defense authorities and organizations to understand their unique needs and offer customized solutions. Promote and facilitate partnerships with defense welfare associations and similar organizations to increase visibility and engagement within the sector. Business Development & Lead Generation: Oversee the development of new business leads through various channels including direct sales referrals and network building within the defense sector. Identify new revenue opportunities through innovative approaches and continuously explore methods to expand the defense channel footprint. Organize and conduct product awareness campaigns seminars and outreach programs aimed at educating defense personnel on available products. Sales Process Optimization: Ensure that the team follows efficient sales processes from lead generation to the closing of sales. Oversee the preparation of proposals presentations and product demonstrations to prospective customers. Monitor the teams lead conversion rates and ensure smooth execution from application submission to policy issuance. Customer Relationship & Retention: Foster longterm relationships with customers in the defense sector and ensure continued satisfaction with HDFC Life products and services. Address customer concerns resolve issues and ensure high levels of customer retention. Implement strategies to encourage policy renewals and crosssell additional products to existing customers. Market Insights & Competitive Analysis: Stay informed about trends in the defense sector including changes in government policies defense personnel benefits and other industry shifts. Regularly analyze competitor activities and market conditions to refine the sales approach and keep the product offerings relevant. Provide feedback to senior management regarding market conditions and potential areas for business development. Reporting & Performance Tracking: Track the performance of the defense channel in your cluster and provide regular reports on sales performance market penetration and customer engagement. Analyze sales data and provide insights into potential improvements in sales strategies. Review and adjust targets based on market conditions and individual/team performance. Compliance & Regulation: Ensure that all sales activities comply with legal regulatory and internal company policies. Ensure team members follow all ethical guidelines and practices including maintaining transparency in all dealings with defense personnel.
