Continuous Improvement Specialist

Summary:

The Continuous Improvement Specialist will serve as a change agent fostering a culture of continuous improvement focused on operational optimization throughout the Distribution Center and Packaging operations. This position will support local operations to identify and to implement opportunities to improve production processes based on established KPIs and global initiatives. The ability to identify and execute process improvements driving action and cultural change across the local organization to ensure value is added is vital to the success of this role. These initiatives include best practices from the market to add value to the operation efficiency improvement in line with the direction from Global Supply Chain and objectives from the local site.

This position is an onsite position at our BIC Charlotte location.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and lead work teams to identify efficiency improvement initiatives acting as a change agent and challenging the status quo.
  • Organize teams in the implementation of Continuous Improvement tools with support of different departments
  • Support local teams in the plan and execution of the actions of efficiency gains (value streaming cost reduction ideas etc.)
  • Assist in establishing and Monitoring Operational Efficiency and other KPIs related to production logistics and manufacturing practices and lead/support actions for continuous improvement projects (Scrap 5S OEE downtime etc.)
  • Guide implementation projects related to improvement tools (VSM PDCA etc.)
  • Assist the operational areas in the definition and execution of new projects of Continuous Improvement through analysis and indicators such as Kaizen Events or transactional workshops
  • Coach and mentor managers supervisors leads and operations throughout the organization on Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement fundamentals
  • Conduct problemsolving root cause analysis VOC review Gemba Walks Kaizen events and workshops.
  • Own the BIC Up! Program including initiatives budget and engagement
  • Establish intake process to effectively prioritize projects based on immediate impact to the operation.
  • Leader in building foundational Continuous Improvement program focused on leadership development and focus on CI cultural shift.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree required in Engineering or Industrial and/or 5 years of related experience with direct experience in a manufacturing / production setting
  • Sound understanding of and minimum of 3 years of experience utilizing Lean and Continuous Improvement techniques and methodologies in the areas of Standardized Work ProblemSolving 5S Value Stream Mapping Process Flow etc.
  • Experience of problem analysis tools and Lean Manufacturing tools
  • Leadership and training of teams of Continuous Improvement in manufacturing/production environments
  • Knowledge of successful continuous improvement projects
  • Passionate and tenacious approach to yield tangible improvements and results
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced environment and stand and work on the production floor for extended time
  • Must have excellent communication both verbal and written. (Bilingual in Spanish is a plus)
