Job Description

Location: Dominos World Resource Center; 30 Frank Lloyd Wright Dr Ann Arbor MI 48105 (MondayThursday onsite Friday is flex)

The Dominos Legal team in Ann Arbor MI is seeking a Corporate Counsel that has experience in Litigation and Employment Law.

This role will be responsible for Oversight of Litigation Administrative Claims Counseling Compliance Contract Review and Legal Research

In this role you will:

  • Discover new ways to automate our tools for stronger impact including integrating new tools as they become available.
  •  Assess and engage outside counsel to represent the Company in litigation and monitor direct and assist outside counsel in all aspects of the litigation cycle including discovery motion practice hearings settlement conferences mediations trials and appeals.
  • Prepare responses to demand letters and claims filed with federal state and local administrative agencies.
  • Oversee handling of audits and investigations initiated by federal state and local administrative agencies.
  • Manage responses to thirdparty subpoenas and requests for personnel records and information.
  • Accountable for periodic reporting to the Legal Finance and Human Resources teams the Board of Directors and insurers and auditors regarding litigation matters.
  • Provide appropriate advice and guidance to the Legal Finance Human Resources and other teams about the strengths and weaknesses of legal matters and share recommendations regarding potential outcomes resolutions and risks.
  • Manage outside counsel budgets and invoices and oversee the collection of periodic legal matter updates from outside counsel.
  • Provide daytoday legal advice and guidance concerning workplace investigations discrimination harassment and retaliation data collection security and privacy drug testing accommodations criminal background checks taxation websites and social media wages and hours reimbursements safety and security attendance and leave franchisor/franchisee joint employer issues and employment decisions such as hiring discipline suspension and termination.
  • Prepare and/or review handbooks manuals policies and procedures standards posters notices applications forms acknowledgements severance and employment agreements training and presentations and various communications to employees and franchisees.
  • Provide advice counsel contract review/drafting/negotiation support to assigned business teams as necessary.
  • Provide research and guidance on a variety of legal questions and issues and keep abreast of new and upcoming laws and requirements.
  • Participate in and provide legal assistance for various special projects including interdepartmental task forces and teams.
  • Assist in efforts to recover funds owed the company by current or former employees.


 


Qualifications :

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • 5 years experience practicing law with experience in labor and employment law preferred.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Willingness to learn different areas of the law.
  • Proven ability to use analytical skills and judgment to create practical alternatives and innovative solutions to legal issues.
  • Strong technical skills experience implementing process automation by partnering with technology teams and resources.
  • Excellent verbal written presentation and communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal collaboration and problemsolving skills and ability to think strategically.
  •  Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments with minimal supervision prioritize multiple projects and complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Proficient in Westlaw Microsoft Office Word Outlook Teams PowerPoint and Excel.
