Job Description

Job Title: Development Officer

Hours: 37.5 hours/week (Permanent/Fulltime)

Salary: $58539 annually comprehensive benefits

Start Date: Immediate



ABOUT THE STOP:

The Stop Community Food Centres mission is to increase access to healthy food in a manner that maintains dignity builds community and challenges inequality. The Stop began 40 years ago as one of North Americas first food banks and has since grown into a vibrant community centre that uses food as a gateway to addressing many issues including poverty the environment social isolation and health in one of Torontos lowestincome neighbourhoods.



THE OPPORTUNITY:

Reporting to the Development Manager the Development Officer is responsible for the fundraising and management of a portfolio of current and potential individual donors . In this position you will work with program staff to deliver on the fundraising strategy and contribute to the case for support while building and leveraging key relationships and contacts within and outside of the organizations network. As the Development Officer you will be a key contributor to the development team and will be essential to the achievement of our organizations fundraising goals

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Report to and works closely with the Development Manager to develop and execute all annual giving revenue programs and initiatives aimed at engaging and involving individual donors with the goal of moving them through the fundraising pipeline.
  • Coordinate all aspects of The Stops individual giving program for monthly small and midlevel gifts (<$5000) including executing online campaigns direct response mail programs monthly donor management upgrades renewals and third party fundraising initiatives.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of an annual fundraising channel assessment to ensure The Stop is maximizing industry best practices and techniques surrounding online and other fundraising channels.
  • Develop and execute direct mail campaigns with third party supplier to deliver successful programs.
  • Support the creation of donor communications materials in collaboration with Communications officer including content for enewsletters stewardship reports presentations online content campaign messaging visual assets and other fundraising materials as required.
  • Track update and record all activity for the individual giving program donors in the database develop queries reports and pull data for all tactics related to individual giving programs.
  • Report on campaign performance looking at key fundraising and channel metrics.
  • Provide superior stewardship and donor customer service through both written and verbal communications in response to donor and prospect queries for all donors <$5000.
  • Develop and adhere to the donor services functions of The Stop including tax receipting donor acknowledgement and thank you letters reporting records and file management.
  • Manage the individual donor stewardship cycle by ensuring donations are acknowledged in a timely and personal manner with receipts correspondence phone calls and other communications for all individual donors.
  • Ensure the accurate recording of all individual donor contacts in the The Stops database and the maintenance of accurate individual donor files.
  • Work with the Development Manager to research and help plan annual budget; monitors the Individual Giving budget ensuring annual campaign goals are met.
  • Assist Development Manager in the planning of donor cultivation events.
  • Provide support at The Stops events and for fundraising projects as required.
  • Attend functions as appropriate to promote The Stop to donors and prospects.
  • Other duties required which includes but not limited to managing peer to peer events.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Minimum of three years of demonstrated effectiveness in fundraising.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in building philanthropic relationships.
  • Excellent writing skills ability to employ effective language dignified storytelling and convey The Stops impact in a compelling manner.
  • Ability to develop and collaborate on content and meet application and reporting deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to develop strong working relationships with internal and external partners and managing through influence.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Detailoriented to support the review and editing of proposals and written communications as well as to maintain accurate records.
  • Knowledge of the principles and ethics of fundraising and the emerging trends within the fund development profession.
  • Ability to apply judgment and make sound decisions that are accountable justifiable and in adherence to organizational policies.
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines and time pressures.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to antiracism/antioppression and communitycentric fundraising.
  • Ability to work with volunteers board or other members.
