Position Summary

The Title IX & DHR Case and Hearing Coordinator (Case Coordinator) will serve a critical support role within the Equity programs and Compliance office (EPC). This role reports directly to the Assistant Vice President for Title IX and DHR (AVP). The Case Coordinator will serve as a primary point of contact for individuals reporting misconduct to EPC and will assist those individuals in connection with support systems within the university and local community. The incumbent for this role must be able to interact with individuals who have suffered difficult and traumatic experience with empathy and a humancentered approach.

The Case Coordinator will be responsible for managing their own caseload for issues concerning Pregnancy and related conditions as well as any hearings required for EPCmanaged resolutions. The incumbent must be comfortable working independently and with minimal oversight.

The Case Coordinator will also be responsible for assisting EPC staff in creating and maintaining accurate and complete documentation of all reports support services and resolutions provided by the office in its database. The incumbent must therefore be detailoriented comfortable managing data entry and understand the critical nature of maintaining accurate records in a legal compliance setting.

The Incumbent keeps the AVP informed of progress potentially controversial matters and implications of work performed. The incumbent must be able to handle highly sensitive and potentially political matters with tact and discretion maintaining confidentiality as appropriate. The Incumbent is expected to recommend and implement continuous quality improvement in unit operations.

Special Working Conditions: Incumbent must be able to competently interact with a culturally and ethnically diverse population of students faculty and staff. Incumbent will interact regularly with campus partners including the Dean of Students Division Labor Relations & Employee Development and Student Affairs & Enrollment Management staff. Position Information

Case Coordination

  • Help resolution services team to manage case progress and track timelines/deadlines.
    • Ensure that timelines are documented for all cases.
  • Ensure all cases are recorded for annual reporting.
  • Ensure all case files are organized and complete.
    • Ensure intake/assessment is complete and documented in every case file.
  • Oversee hearing processes from initial scheduling to all hearing coordination through final closure.

Independent Case/Project Management

  • Implement supportive measures in coordination with AVP and resolution services team as directed.
  • Manage cases related to pregnancy and related conditions including creation of case file outreach initial assessment and reasonable modification supportive measures.
  • Conduct initial searches for any public records request for EPC records.

Office Support

  • Provide administrative support for the office including file management scheduling and/or monitoring department communications systems (phone email etc.) as needed.
  • Assist team members in ensuring case files and all office documentation are accurate and complete.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with campus/community partners that are essential to DHR/Title IX functions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited fouryear college or university in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Familiarity with Title IX Clery Act VAWA FERPA Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) affirmative action the Americans with Disabilities Act and/or other applicable federal and state civil rights and employment laws regulations and standards.
  • Knowledge of principles of social justice.
  • Knowledge of principles of cultural competence.
  • Ability to work independently take initiative and handle highly sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
  • Strong and effective interpersonal skills including the ability to establish rapport with a diverse range of community members.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective collaborative working relationships.
  • Commitment to principles of due process fairness ethical conduct and respect.
  • Excellent writing and oral communication skills.
  • Must have exceptional organization skills including the ability to handle a significant workload and manage multiple deadlines.
  • A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who apply for the position.
  • Must be proficient in Word Excel PowerPoint Adobe and Zoom.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two (2) years experience in Student Conduct Title IX DHR (Discrimination Harassment & Retaliation) EEO or employee relations complaint and/or grievance office.
  • Understanding of and ability to work within databases run reports and create analytics.
  • Experience in a higher education setting preferred especially public higher education.
  • Proficiency with Maxient or other case management software.

This position requires the successful completion of a background check.
