Position Summary
The Northern District is seeking applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor for an Extension Educator. The Extension Educator will provide leadership in all county and some district agriculture programs. The Educator will provide assistance in university outreach where appropriate. They will plan develop implement evaluate and report agricultural programs for stakeholders and clientele. In addition the Educator will provide county and multisupport for 4H Youth Development programs. The Educator will serve as administrative chair of the Lewis County Extension office supervising county staff negotiating and managing the county budget and will build/maintain positive relationships with stakeholders. Due to the outlined Chair duties the candidate will be eligible for a Stipend. Rank and tenure are negotiable based on how the candidate meets the criteria for these in our unit and college bylaws.
Required Qualifications
Master of Science Degree from an accredited institution in agricultural area that may include crop science plant science soil science horticulture agricultural economics or related agricultural science degrees. Experience and ability to work collaboratively with individuals and organizations from a wide range of public and private perspectives. Experience adapting research materials for effective oral and written presentation. Experience with a flexible schedule and ability to travel (i.e. participate in evening and weekend programs).
Preferred Qualifications
At least 3 years of experience in agriculture (relevant experience acquired within last 5 years preferred). Annual/perennial grass and legume hay production experience. Ability to work well in a team and provide effective instruction support marketing and promotion for Extension programs. Computer literacy and good written and verbal communication skills. Experience in hiring and supervising office staff. Experience working with youth development programs.
