Summary of Position: This position of special education teacher at the EIC includes two primary job functions: evaluating students for Part C to B TEIS transitions as well as ChildFind referrals and providing direct special education services to children ages 35 years. Specific job duties will be dependent each year upon the needs of the EIC. The location of the EIC is on the campus of John Sevier Elementary School.

Job Description:
Provide instructional academic socialemotional/behavior adaptive and/or prevocational support via direct instruction coteaching and/or resource support to students with disabilities ages 3 to 5 years. Collaborate with colleagues such as PT/OT/Speech to provide highquality special education services. Manage a caseload of students with a full range of disabilities including moderate to severe developmental and/or cognitive delays including significant behavioral challenges. Develop lesson plans and teach preK standards modified as appropriate to the students within a classroom.

- Thorough knowledge of the principles and methodology of effective teaching of students with a variety of moderate and comprehensive disabilities.
- Provide highquality special education services to support students in meeting their IEP goals.
- Serve as a team member in determining and implementing student accommodations referral eligibility placement and individual education program development.
- Coordinate Part C to B TEIS transitions following all district state board and federal requirements especially related to timeline deadlines.
- Participate as appropriate in special education eligibility meetings.
- Coordinate with general education teachers to appropriately refer students to the Integrated PreK HeadStart or other private preschool programs.
- Coordinate with staff at the EIC to ensure students are properly registered and evaluated.
- Ability to develop a classroom schedule and individual student schedules effectively utilizing teaching assistant(s) to meet the IEP services and needs of every student. This includes the ability to develop highly individualized student schedules targeting their greatest areas of need including behavioral and sensory needs.
- Comply with district local state and federal policies/procedures/regulations regarding special education records reports and services.
- Maintain frequent and substantive communication with parents teachers related services personnel and supervisors.
- Assess students needs and develop a compliant and highquality individualized education program (IEP) for students with disabilities. Assess the accomplishments of students through effective data collection and provide progress reports as required.
- Maintain a positive working relationship with team members including but not limited to TEIS case management TDOE program evaluators other educators outside of MCS EIC and elementary educators and administrators parents/guardians and related service providers.
- Create and maintain a classroom climate that is conducive to the learning process. This includes establishing a strong positive behavioral support system within the classroom and for each child. Initiate and maintain positive relationships with parents through effective communication.
- Supervise and train educational assistants supporting students within the classroom as necessary.
- Dedication to equal access and personal growth for all students.
- Commitment to continuing education and lifelong learning. This includes attendance at all required EIC/JSE and MCS professional development as well as selfdirected professional development.
- Willingness to obtain a 459 Sped endorsement as a district expense through Praxis testing (as allowable).
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Special Education Director or EIC acting administrator.
