Job Description
As a Medical Laboratory Scientist in our Clinical Pharmacokinetics Laboratory you are responsible for performing laboratory tests that will be used for medical prognosis diagnosis treatment and research. You will also perform other tasks such as specimen receipt and processing and will perform tasks related to method validation and quality improvement. Our laboratory specializes in therapeutic drug monitoring and toxicology testing as well as related esoteric tests. We utilize techniques such as automated immunoassays HPLC LCMS/MS radiobioassay and ELISA. Experience with LCMS/MS is highly desired but not required. Good communication skills are a must as daily interaction with clinicians should be expected. We seek an independent and proactive individual with a desire to learn new techniques.
Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Rotate weekend and holiday coverage as required.

Job Responsibilities:
- Execute and oversee test lifecycle activities and aspects within own area (e.g. execution validation and reporting of medical lab results; storage distribution/shipping of specimens and material; tissue governance).
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to discuss test results and provide necessary support and guidance.
- Participate in research and development activities staying updated on advancements in laboratory techniques and technologies/procedures.
- Perform verification and validation planning for new equipment and assays.
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment conduct quality control troubleshoot issues and perform routine maintenance.
- Support ongoing lab inventory planning monitoring and management.
- Oversee compliance with safety and infection control protocols within own area.
- Maintain accurate documentation of test procedures results and quality control data.
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
Minimum Education and/or Training:
- Bachelors degree in medical technology/medical lab science or in one of the biological chemical or physical sciences and completion of a medical laboratory technologist training program .
- Masters degree in Clinical Lab Science preferred.
Minimum Experience:
- 4 years of medical laboratory experience .
- Experience Exception: Masters degree in Clinical Lab Science with 2 years of experience.
- 2 years of relevant clinical medical laboratory technician experience may be considered for 1 year of medical technologist experience.
- Experience in lab equipment operations medical technology techniques and execution of specialized lab test procedures.
- Experience in data collection and analysis.
- Experience working with crossfunctional stakeholders.
- Proven performance in earlier role/ comparable role.
Licensure Registration and/or Certification Required by Law:
- None
Licensure Registration and/or Certification Required by SJCRH Only:
- Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist MLS from the ASCP NRCC ABB ASCPi (if taken after January 2015) is within six (6) months of hire if not licensed in Tennessee as a medical laboratory professional.
- Acceptable licenses are Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Technologist (MT) Medical Laboratory SupervisorGeneral or Categorical Supervisor Special Analyst or Categorical Technologist in assigned laboratory section.
Compensation
In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets experience and training licensure and certifications and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $31.50 $55.00 per hour for the role of Medical Lab Scientist II.Explore our exceptional benefits!
