The Early Head Start (EHS) Teacher will contribute to the planning and implementation of a developmentally appropriate educational program that will provide children comprehensive quality services that meet the individual needs of infants toddlers and preschoolers being served.

Licensing/Certification
90 hour Child Care Certification and 4 hour Infant/Toddler Certification Maryland State Department of Education (required Child Development Associate credential CDA within 6 months of hire date)
CPR and First Aid Certification (preferred)
Shaken Baby Syndrome Certification (preferred)
Child Abuse and Neglect Certification (preferred)
Support in Breastfeeding (preferred)
9 hour Communication Maryland State Department of Education (preferred)
Teaching Strategies GOLD assessments (preferred)
Child Development Associate (CDA) Infant/Toddler Certification (preferred)
Education
High school diploma (required)
Work Experience
1 year of progressive related experience (required)

Patient Population
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit.
Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patients status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patients requirements relative to his or her age specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in departmental policies and procedures.

Working Conditions
Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur.
