Contract : Fixed Term Contract / Attachment Part Time 17.5 hrs per week
This role is advertised as part of our BBC Extend programme for disabled people. To apply for this role you should identify as deaf disabled or neurodivergent and must meet either: the definition of disability in the Equality Act (2010) or the definition of disability in the Disability Discrimination Act (1995) if applying in Northern Ireland. Youre broadly defined as disabled under both acts if you have a physical or mental impairment that has a substantial and longterm negative or adverse effect on your ability to do normal daily activities. This definition includes both apparent and nonapparent conditions and impairments and medical conditions such as Cancer HIV or Multiple Sclerosis.

The Assistant Editor will:
Deliver programmes to the highest editorial standards.
Challenge and encourage their teams to produce new ideas fresh treatments and imaginative programmes.
Provide constructive performance feedback to team members.
Fully understand the broadcast and production technologies in use in the Belfast newsroom in particular for those used for radio.
Become part of the wider management team in the newsroom.
Work flexibly across the output as required.
Help drive BBC News NIs Social Media offering and effectively use crosspromotional opportunities on all output.
The ideal candidate will have:
Substantial radio journalism production experience.
Aproven track record of sound news judgement. Ability to deal with complexeditorial issues in a pressurised environment.
Aproven ability to produce original journalism and treatments.
A thorough understanding the politics and current affairs of Northern Ireland along with a keen interest in current affairs across these islands.
Evidence of the ability to manage and lead teams of staff providing regular feedback and playing a key role in developing talent.
