Controls Engineer
The Controls Engineer will support automation and control systems across multiple production facilities. This role is critical to maintaining system reliability enhancing process efficiency and driving technical innovation. Responsibilities include:
Design program and maintain PLC HMI and SCADA systems
Integrate new equipment and automation solutions into existing production lines
Develop control system documentation including electrical schematics and SOPs
Provide handson support to resolve electrical and automation issues
Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to address system failures and root causes
Conduct routine system audits and ensure operational compliance with safety and quality standards
Lead automation projects from concept to implementation including budgeting and scheduling
Oversee installations commissioning and upgrades of control systems
Coordinate with vendors contractors and internal stakeholders
Identify and implement improvements to system performance and process automation
Apply lean manufacturing and Six Sigma principles to increase efficiency and reduce downtime
Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies
Train technicians and production staff on system operation and maintenance
Develop support materials and conduct workshops to build internal technical capability
Ensure systems meet applicable food safety and electrical safety standards (e.g. FDA USDA OSHA NFPA 70E)
Maintain accurate records of system changes audits and compliance documentation
Requirements:
Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Automation or a relevant field preferred
3 years of experience in a controls engineering role
Experience in the food manufacturing industry
Strong working knowledge of PLC programming (AllenBradley and/or Siemens preferred)
Familiarity with HMI and SCADA systems
Knowledge of lean manufacturing and Six Sigma
