    Salary: S1; 24; $16.50 per hour

    Hours: 8 hours per day; Monday Friday 183 days

    Primary Job Function:

    The Uinta County School District# 1 Specialized Instructional Aide Media is responsible for providing hands on support to the media director when preparing lessons or teaching students in the media center or sometimes in pullout groups. Their duties also include helping with behavior management during lessons tracking a students grades and behavior and setting up classroom materials before class.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • High School diploma or equivalent
    • One (1) to two (2) years experience working with students and teachers on academic content standards and/or grade level proficiency tests is preferred
    Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Primary functions may include the following duties responsibilities skills abilities and other characteristics. This list of tasks is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY and is not intended to be a comprehensive listing of tasks performed by all positions within this classification.

    Instruction

    • Assists and guides all students to reinforce reading language arts mathematics computer instruction and other skills
    • Works with students individually in small groups or whole group to reinforce and reteach basic learning and implement assigned programs
    • Assists in media center classroom preparations and strategies for reinforcing instructional materials and skills according to individual student needs
    • Provides planned instruction for students i.e. Media Aids.
    • Prepares educational materials as needed

    Testing

    • Assists professional staff in the administration and correction of classroom exercises tests and assessments

    Classroom Management

    • Assists with classroom behavioral management to minimize disruptions ensure a safe and orderly media center and ensure students are on task
    • Works to develop relationships with students to create a culture of trust within the media center

    Other duties:

    • Assists with recordkeeping procedures to document student learning and performance.
    • Assists all students in noninstructional areas such as supervising the student lunch programs bus duty playground duty corridor study hall and other related noninstructional areas
    • Assists teacher with parent contact as requested to foster effective and participatory parent involvement in student education

    Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

    • Knowledge of English grammar spelling and punctuation
    • Knowledge of basic mathematics; Proficient in Microsoft Office.
    • Knowledge of industry best practices for paraprofessionals
    • Skilled at effective verbal and written communication
    • Skilled in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions conclusions or approaches to problems
    • Skilled in collaboration and decisionmaking seeking consensus whenever possible
    • Skilled in conflict resolution
    • Ability to perform oral reading to students individually or in groups.
    • Ability to understand apply and use personal computers and software applications
    • Ability to interact with students to maintain discipline order and resolve disciplinary problems
    • Ability to assist students with various physical and intellectual needs
    • Ability to handle behavioral situations in a calm and effective manner
    • Ability to maintain accurate records and write reports and logs
    • Ability to think outside the box
    • Ability to analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action
    • Ability to interpret apply and explain rules regulations policies and procedures
    • Ability to promote positive staff morale
    • Ability to organize multiple tasks and conflicting time constraints.
    • Ability to engage in selfevaluation with regards to leadership performance and professional growth
    • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others

    Physical Demands & Working Conditions:

    • Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to communicate with others. The employee is required to sit or stand and move around for extended periods of time. While performing the duties of this job the employee must be able to push pull lift and cany over 25 pounds on occasion.
    • Working Conditions The employee in this position may experience occasional exposure to blood bodily fluids and tissue. The employee may also be required to interact with unruly children.
    • Driving Requirement This position may require driving.
