Physical Therapy Assistant (PRN)

Agency Overview:

Position Overview:

This is a PRN (as needed) position. The Physical Therapy Assistant functions as a member of the transdisciplinary team in the RAISE Early Intervention Program for families with infants and toddlers who have developmental delays and/or disabilities or who are at high risk for delay. The Physical Therapy Assistant will notify the Physical Therapist when there has been any significant change in the infant or toddlers medical health or related conditions. The incumbent maintains all appropriate documentation to meet RACS requirements Medicaid and insurance requirements and the requirements of the Infant & Toddler Connection of Virginias Practice Manual for Part C services.

The Physical Therapy Assistant must exercise sound judgment and initiative must work well with little direct supervision and must maintain client confidentiality in accordance with RACS policies and procedures FERPA and HIPAA.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide physical therapy services according to the Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) and document activities and observations.
  • Ensure families receive their entitled motor development early intervention services as listed on the IFSP.
  • Make contacts on schedule as planned in the IFSP in order to implement IFSP goals.
  • Ensure all documentation is completed to meet RACS requirements along with Medicaid and insurance requirements.
  • Stay uptodate with the most recent research and best practice methodology in serving young children with delays and disabilities.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Associates degree from an approved Physical Therapist Assistant program required.
  • Must be a licensed Physical Therapy Assistant in the state of Virginia.
  • Must meet qualifications to be an Early Intervention Professional in accordance with the Infant & Toddler Connection of Virginias Practice Manual for Part C services.
  • At least one year of experience working in a field related to early intervention is preferred.
  • A valid Virginia drivers license is required.
  • Staff members are responsible for submitting proof of license renewal to the Human Resources office

Background Investigation Requirements: All applicants are subject to a background investigation. Investigations may include fingerprint checks (State Police); local agency checks; employment verification; verification of education (relevant to employment); and other checks based on the position.

Probationary Period: All persons that are newly hired rehired transferred promoted or demoted into a Rockbridge Area Community Services position must serve a new 6month probationary period.
