About us
Alfred Mental & Addiction Health (AMAH) is responsible for the operation of services which focus on people with a mental illness residing in the Inner South Eastern area of Melbourne.
HOPE the Suicide Prevention team provide 3 months intensive outreach psychosocial support and brief interventions to individuals discharged from hospital post a suicide attempt or who have presented with serious suicidal ideation.
The HOPE Suicide Prevention team is comprised of dedicated and compassionate mental health clinicians and lived experience workers. We celebrate diversity within our workforce and are a socially active team with a genuine interest in each others wellbeing. We set high standards and our team is committed to delivering timely and effective care to individuals in need ensuring their wellbeing and promoting recovery. We also value higher learning and have a supportive lived experience management teamwho are dedicated to supporting the professional growth of our lived experience workers.
The Role
The Carer Peer Worker works in conjunction with our clinical team to provide support to family members or other carers in the network of the consumer. Carers/family members and friends often provide the main safety net and support system for a consumer. Evidence shows that when carers/family and friends are involved with services outcomes for consumers improve.
