TITLE:SCHOOL SOCIAL WORKER THIS IS A ONE YEARGRANT FUNDED POSITION through June 2025Assignment is at the Elementary LevelQUALIFICATIONS:Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) School School Social Worker CertificatePOSITION SUMMARY:The position of school social worker is to provide school social work services to and on behalf ofstudents in addition to collaborating with school staff and community agencies in order tomaximize overall /MTSS participation and independence in the school setting. The school socialworker may function as a member of the Evaluation Team IEP team Crisis Intervention Teamand MTSS Team. The school social worker offers social skill and emotional developmentthrough either direct contact with students families or consultation with other DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: Adheres to the policies of the Bristol Warren Regional School Department Adheres to special education policies and completes relevant paperwork Attends and actively contributes to 504 MTSS and special education meetings Promotes the attainment of the Districts mission vision and strategic planDisplays strong and deep knowledge of subject matter content Understands how knowledge is constructed within the discipline Applies current researchbased best instructional practices and strategies to help students accessthe curriculum Communicates high and clear expectations for students Integrates technology to more effectively deliver school psychology servicesPromotes deep understanding of content by addressing unique learning styles and assists teamsand teachers in adapting instruction to meet the needs of all studentsAssists teams in designing and implementing Individual Educational plans to meet the uniqueneeds of students with disabilitiesDevelops with colleagues appropriate academic behavioral and social/emotional goals forstudentsPromotes and utilizes positive behavioral supportsConducts social histories and formal student observations to assist special education teams indecisionmaking shares findings with key stakeholders and interprets assessment data in order tounderstand the academic biological and developmental issues that impact student performance. Function as a liaison with school community family and student when indicated to link schooland community services Collaborates with outside providers and agencies to coordinate supports to students and families Actively supports and assists MTSS teams in adhering to a problemsolving model duringmeetings assists in the selection of evidencebased interventions and helps teams design a plan tomonitor student progress Uses student data in treatment/intervention design and adjusts service delivery based on results ofongoing progress monitoring Collaborates and consults with staff parents administration and the school community inproviding information about the developmental stages of children and adolescents linking thisknowledge to how various socialemotional environmental biological cultural and experientialvariables can impact student achievementProvides direct student service including but not limited to individual counseling group skillsinstruction behavioral intervention support and crisis intervention Develops implements and evaluates prevention and intervention programs based on therecognized factors that are precursors to learning and behavioral difficulties Communicates regularly with students and parents regarding the students academic behavioralsocial and emotional status; communicates immediately with both when there are concerns Makes referrals to existing community resources and provides followup services.
