We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced oncology nurse that has the ability to lead others inspire those around them and a passion for Oncology. This Clinical Care Leader position will assist with both the medical oncology clinic and infusion center day to day operations. Ensuring our teams have what they need to take care of the patients we serve and to assist in operationalizing our strategic plan.Summary
The Registered Nurse in the Clinical Care Leader (CCL) role facilitates health care services for patients receiving infusions in cooperation with the health care team. Demonstrates strong clinical reasoning and critical thinking skills to analyze data and appropriately respond to changing situations. Effective communication skills to collaborate negotiate and resolve conflicts situations and/or issues with peers interprofessional colleagues patients and families. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with patients medical staff clinical support staff and the public. Serves as a mentor to staff while assisting in facilitating the overall clinic activities. Participates and may serve in leadership roles on department/organizational tasks forces and committees.Job Description
Responsible for utilizing the nursing process (assessment diagnosis outcomes/planning implementation and evaluation) to provide individualized nursing care to infusion patients. Responsible for the coordination of care patient assessment patient education and various other nursing interventions. Collaborates with other interprofessional colleagues including physicians to plan implement and evaluate care. Demonstrates competency and practices within the full scope of nursing expertise/knowledge and utilizes appropriate age and population specific standards as designated in infusion care setting. Functions within the scopes and standards of nursing practice as outlined in the Nurse Practice Act and Administrative Rules in state of practice and licensure. The Sanford Professional Nursing Practice recognizes the Scope and Standards of Practice and the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements as published by the American Nurses Association as the foundation of nursing care delivery and professional conduct. Documents patient history symptoms medications and care provided in compliance with applicable standards/regulations.
Competent in the registered nurse (RN) skills of the infusion unit. Knowledge of procedures and programs to ensure employee safety. Assumes leadership role in highrisk situations. Coordinates the clinical/unit nursing activities while adhering to Sanford Health philosophy goals and standards of care. Acknowledges their impact on budget and finance through staffing and ensuring safe patient care. The CCL uses critical thinking skills to collaborate and coordinate patient care and manage emergent situations for the infusion clinical setting. Responsible to intervene when unsafe practices are identified. Responsible to make patient assignments based on employees competencies scope of practice experience and patients unique needs. Demonstrates effective communication skills to negotiate and resolve conflicts with and between peers interprofessional colleagues patients and families. Serves as a mentor to staff while facilitating the overall unit activities. Participates in housewide and/or departmental committees and assists with the coordination of the Peer Review Process for employees. Participates in active learning and development resources. The nurse has knowledge of and utilizes appropriate agerelated patient care protocols relating to the physical and psychological needs of patients according to infusion department scope of service.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in nursing strongly preferred (required at SMC and Clinics in Sioux Falls). Graduate from an accredited nursing program preferred including but not limited to American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA).Sanford is an EEO/AA Employer M/F/Disability/Vet.
