30% Instruction or leading of lab sections- Leads small groups of lab sections or other small groups based on instructors needs
30% Assisting students with questions- Serve as point of contact during class time and outside of class to answer student questions regarding course and assignment materials
30% Grading- Assisting with grading exams and assignments based on instructor of records needs.
10% Other Responsibilities- Attending meetings with supervising instructors

- Current KU graduate student in good academic standing as indicated on application materials.
- Completion of undergraduate coursework in biological concepts such as biochemistry molecular biology genetics anatomy physiology plant and animal development morphology physiology ecology and phylogeny as indicated on application materials.

Position OverviewThe Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology invite graduate students with experience in biology to submit applications for GTA positions in 100 or 200level undergraduate biology courses. Applications will be reviewed and placed in a pool for consideration as Graduate Teaching Assistants for hiring during the Fall 2025 semester.

Position RequirementsDuring the semester term of the appointment the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be preenrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).
Employment Conditions(1) Student employees are
not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.
(2) This is a salaried/exempt position. A student employee cannot hold an hourly/nonexempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently.
